We’re already one week into December and that means Christmas isn’t far away! We’ve got some fantastic parties and activities still to come. Keep reading to find out more about the upcoming Christmas holiday activities at Silver Bay.

Christmas Holiday Activities

christmas holiday activities

Our Family Christmas Party was a great success and we still have some fantastic events coming up for the rest of the month.

Public Santa Event

We’re thrilled to announce that Santa is making another appearance at The Deck House and this time we’re opening it up to the public. Taking place on Sunday 15th December from 2pm to 5pm, each ticket includes a gift from Santa, a meal (hotdog/pizza with chips) and access to our new soft play area.

Santa is a very busy man at this time of year so booking is essential to make sure Santa has enough presents for everyone. Tickets for children are £5 and adults go free, but please make sure to book a ticket via our online booking system so we can keep track of numbers. Tickets are available to purchase until 1pm on Saturday 14th December and bookings are non-refundable.

Our bar and restaurant will be open for food and drink and all the money raised from the event will be donated to Fundraising to buy Defibrillators for Anglesey Schools. Fundraising to buy Defibrillators for Anglesey Schools is a local fundraising group formed by mums. Their aim is to raise money in order to purchase a defibrillator for every school or nursery setting on Anglesey who do not already have one. A defibrillator is a potentially life saving piece of equipment and can increase the chance of survival of sudden cardiac arrest by up to 90% if treatment is provided within one minute. Having a unit on site makes our schools and nurseries a safer place, not only for the children, their teachers, assistants, and other school staff, but also for parents and grandparents dropping and collecting their children.

New Year’s Eve Party

You’re invited to welcome in 2020 with friends and family at The Deck House, starting at 5pm on Thursday 31st December. We’ll have live music from Uptown Beat followed by a disco until 1am. We’ll be serving the children’s buffet on arrival and serving food for the adults later in the evening. Adult tickets are £27.50, child tickets are £12 and infants go free. Tickets can be purchased on our online booking system and are available until Sunday 15th December.

Busy Bayer Activities

We have some fantastic Christmas holiday activities to keep your Busy Bayers occupied between Christmas and New Year. On Saturday 28th December we’ll be getting ready for next year by creating 2020 calendars at 10:30am and 1pm. At 3pm the popular Lego Masters is back for ages 5 and above. On Sunday 29th we have two Snow Dough sessions for ages 3 and above at 10:30am and 1pm followed by Sequin Art for ages 8 and above at 3pm. On Monday 30th we’ll be starting the day at 11am with Playdate for ages 3 and under followed by two Winter Crafts sessions at 1pm and 3pm. Finally, on New Year’s Eve we will have two Forest Feast sessions at 10am and 1pm before we kick off our New Year’s Eve Party at 5pm.

Preparing Your Holiday Home for Winter

It’s important to follow the below steps when leaving your holiday home unoccupied over winter. Here are our top tips:

  • Secure all outdoor furniture, including bunkers and sheds, to prevent damage in high winds
  • Ensure you have emptied all fridge/freezers, cupboards and bird feeders of food
  • Stand all seat cushions on end to allow air to circulate
  • Make sure all fixed ventilation is not obstructed and wardrobes and internal doors are left open
  • Check all windows and external doors are tightly closed, including skylights
  • Check you have securely locked your holiday home
  • Lodge owners may wish to leave their boilers on frost stat to prevent frost damage
  • Caravan owners may wish to drain their water system to prevent frost damage to pipes. We offer a drain down service to all caravan owners at Silver Bay so if you require a drain down, please contact Owner Services on 01407 860860 or reception@bulmerleisure.co.uk (this may be compulsory with some insurance policies – make sure to check your caravan insurance requirements). To reconnect your caravan we require at least five days notice so please give us plenty of notice when you wish to return.

We look forward to seeing you all for our Christmas holiday activities and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you in February 2020 when we reopen for the new season.

We hope you’ve had time to get back into the swing of things after the summer holidays. We thought it was time to round up all our fantastic events from this summer; what a summer it’s been!

Events at The Deck House

We kicked off the summer holidays in style with our owner’s exclusive summer party. For the little ones we had some amazing entertainment, including a return visit from Mr Trix the clown and Ella from Frozen, and finished the night with dancing and music from the fabulous Treasure.

The fun didn’t stop there! We also had a disco at the beginning of August and a casino and disco towards the end of August. The casino was a great success and it looked like you all had a great time, we hope you kept your photobooth pictures courtesy of Event Lounge.

Busy Bayers Activities During the Summer Holidays

We had all sorts of creative activities for our Busy Bayers during the summer holidays, from making a mini aquarium and designing a board game to creating salt dough creatures and African Art. We also welcomed some new activities to our timetable, including Welsh for beginners, first aid awareness for children and cooking skills. Our ‘Meet the Bees’ sessions were such a success over the summer that we carried them on into September. If you’re quick you may still be able to attend one of our weekend sessions; taking place for the rest of the month. You can view the dates and times and book a session on our online booking system plus we’re also selling Silver Bay Honey from our bees, which can be purchased at the reception or spa.

Beach Activities

At the beginning of August we ran our fishing competition with all proceeds going to the RNLI. It was a great turnout and we want to thank everyone who took part; congratulations to Kevin McLean for heaviest bag, Holly Watts for being our junior winner and Gail Booth Bull Hurs for heaviest fish.

This year we ran our sandcastle competition a bit differently. We asked you to submit your entries online, allowing everyone to vote for their favourite sandcastle creation. Congratulations to Holly Keary for coming first place, the Andersons for coming second and Rose and Poppy Hayward for coming third.

Our sandcastle competition winners were announced at Beach Mudder where owners competed once again for the Beach Mudder crown. Congratulations to Robert’s Runners for coming in first place, Pineapple Pickers for landing second place and Bates-ish Family for getting third place.

This year we’re running a cake design competition, giving your little ones the opportunity to design our Halloween cake; all they need is a blank piece of paper and a creative imagination. We’ll be judging each design based on the idea and not on the quality of the drawing. You can post your entries to Reception, Silver Bay Holiday Village, Pentre Gwyddel, Rhoscolyn, Holyhead, Anglesey LL65 2RZ or email reception@bulmerleisure.co.uk and the winning entry will be made and revealed at our Halloween party; entries close Friday 19th October. Summer has officially begun! There’s no better way to enjoy the summer months than enjoying a glass of G&T whilst taking in those stunning views. That’s why we’ve introduced a whole new gin menu to The Deck House bar for you to try; of course you’ll need to find your very own favourite but here’s a little information about each one.

We, of course, have the classics such as Gordon’s, Bombay Sapphire, Hendrick’s and Plymouth Original. If you want to branch out a bit but still want that classic taste we have a range of London dry gins; including Bloom, Bulldog, Opihr and 6 O’clock Gin.

London Dry Gin

For a smoother, sweet flavour Bloom gin and 6 O’clock Gin are perfect. Bloom consists of three different flavours; chamomile, honeysuckle and the citrus fruit pomelo. Drink it with an Indian tonic water and fresh strawberries. 6 O’clock Gin has a fine balance of botanicals, including coriander, orange peel and elderflower, giving a balanced but smooth flavour. Drink with tonic water and garnish with lemon, lemon zest or lime.

Bulldog is a multi-award winning gin that has been handcrafted in an English distillery for over 250 years. Its dry flavours give a crisp finish and it is best served with a premium Indian tonic along with fresh ground black pepper.

Or if you’re looking for something with more exotic flavours, Ophir has a wide range of flavours. This includes spicy Cubeb berries from Indonesia, black pepper from India and coriander from Morocco. It has been distilled to a high quality since 1761 and is best served with Indian tonic water garnished with lime, black pepper or cardamom.

Something a Bit Different

Want something a bit different to the London Dry?

From London we have Edgerton Blue Spice, a follow on from the popular Edgerton original pink gin. This has an earthy flavour consisting of 17 botanicals and coriander notes. Serve with Fever Tree Indian tonic water and garnish with fresh blueberries.

Or why not get a taste of the Brecon Beacons with Brecon, a traditional gin laced with hints of spicy cinnamon and coriander. The characteristic flavours go well with tonic, ice and lemon or lime zest.

Head up to the north of Scotland for Rock Rose, a handcrafted Scottish gin which gets its flavours from local and traditional botanicals. Drink with Fever Tree Indian tonic water and finish off with orange zest.

Take a trip overseas with the Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin, consisting of 47 handpicked ingredients sourced from the Black Forest. Serve with tonic water and garnish with blackberries, a wedge of lime, a slice of orange or orange zest.

Flavoured Gin

If you fancy something more flavoursome then one of these flavoured gins could be perfect for you.

The Edgerton Original Pink gin is made from 15 exotic ingredients, including pomegranate. A delightful and complex gin, perfectly served with Fever Tree Indian tonic water and garnished with a strawberry.

Want a drink that tastes like an English summer? The Cucumber Gin has a clean aroma and taste of fresh cucumber along with a delicate taste of coriander, citrus and cracked pepper. Drink it neat or with Fever Tree tonic water and finish off with fresh mint leaves.

If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary then we would recommend the Marshmallow Gin with Madagascan Vanilla; a premium gin with an infused flavour produced using copper pot stills. Serve over ice for a refreshing and cool taste.

If you’d like to find out more about The Deck House bar or would like to get in touch, take a look at The Deck House page.

Journey to Spain this summer without the queues and exhaustion of flying because Silver Bay is bringing Spain to you! Last week we launched our new tapas menu at The Deck House. This means you can now experience the Spanish way of dining while enjoying the views of Silver Bay. Does this tickle your tastebuds? Then keep reading to find out more.

As we’re by the sea it’s fitting that we offer some seafood options. Go for something spicy with the chilli and lime squid with garlic aioli dip. Or try something a bit different with the fennel, peppercorn and garlic king prawn mango shooters.

If you fancy something a bit meatier then maybe the bacon and halloumi bites with a chilli and bacon jam could be the ones for you, or we also have chicken, olive and sundried tomato meatballs with a wild garlic dip. Tapas wouldn’t be complete with some chorizo so we have two different dishes to choose from, including sautéed chorizo in a deep red wine, honey, garlic and sesame glaze or patatas bravas with chorizo and a chilli, tomato, garlic and paprika sauce.

We’ve also got some veggie dishes to perfectly complement the meat and fish. Choose from cauliflower cheese and jalapeno croquettes served with a sweet chilli dip or our Canarian potatoes. For those of you new to Canarian potatoes, also known as “wrinkly potatoes”, they’re small, salted potatoes boiled and served with mojo rojo sauce.

To make the most of this amazing selection of dishes, we’ve got a great offer for you. Buy five tapas plates and we’ll give you a dish of Canarian potatoes, mojo rojo style, on the house! We’ve also got more exciting developments coming to The Deck House, make sure to keep an eye out on our Facebook page for future updates.

To book a table at The Deck House, call a member of our friendly team on 01407 862 046.

If peace and quiet isn’t your thing we have a BRAND NEW exercise class, Splash! which is ideal for working up a sweat as well as having fun with all the family. Please call our Spa and Leisure Complex at 01407 862049 to book your place.

We’re also bringing back some all-time favourite fitness classes such as H.I.I.T and Pilates – hustle for that muscle by strengthening your core and mind.

Easter 2017

When one Half Term closes its doors, another is soon to open… We’re looking forward to the Easter break when we’ll get the chance to relive the fun all over again.

If you think your family or friends would love a holiday home at Silver Bay, don’t forget to let them know they can download our brochure or contact us and book a site visit.
