It’s finally Summer time, and residents from far and wide are flocking to Silver Bay for another Summer of fantastic fun. But in between hitting the spa and relaxing on the beach, there’s plenty of time to switch off from the real world and settle down with a good book.

We’ve searched high and low to bring you the very best Summer reads to complete your Silver Bay visit. So without further hesitation, explore the reads below and head down to your local bookstore – just in time for the Summer holidays!

1. A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin

For a breathtaking read that will send chills down your spine, you can’t go far wrong with the first book of George R R Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series.

It’s quite a thick book, making for the perfect Summer read for those on long Silver Bay breaks. Filled with battles, love and betrayal – Game of Thrones is the perfect novel to keep you on the edge of your beach towel.

And because it’s such a long series you can continue to read his books long after you’ve headed back home, too.

2. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

When a book is turned into a film, it’s usually a sign that the original novel is a great read. And this is especially true of Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You.

Moyes takes us on a journey with themes of love and an exploration of human relationships. It shows two unlikely characters thrown together and how they fall for one another.

Moyes creates the perfect backdrop for love to flourish, and this novel really is romantic fiction at its finest.

3. Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll

The title of this one may seem like it’s going to be a chic lit read, but in actual fact, the novel is a nail-biting thriller that is perfectly suited to both genders.

This is the first novel from Jessica Knoll, and you’ll find it hard to put down the tale that follows Ani Fanelli and her life, as well as her disturbing past.

Ani gets the chance to reveal to a documentary producer what happened during a terrible incident back when she was in high school – but things soon start to fall apart.

This really is one that will have you hooked from page one, and we’re certain it will make a great reading companion on those lazy afternoons.

4. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany

Everyone loves Harry Potter, and although these books were created for children the stories are enjoyable for any age group.

Now JK Rowling has captured the 8th Harry Potter story alongside Jack Thorne and John Tiffany in a fantastic play.

In the play script, we’re introduced to Harry as an adult and follow the life of his son, Albus, as he ventures off to Hogwarts.

This book is slightly different in that it’s actually the scripts from part one and part two of The Cursed Child play – but don’t be put off. JK Rowling and co. manage to tell the story wonderfully whether in script format or traditional prose.

5. Night School by Lee Child

You may remember recently that a film under the title Jack Reacher was released starring Tom Cruise. Well, fans will be pleased because the Night School by Lee Child is the latest addition to the Jack Reacher story.

This book can be enjoyed by both men and woman, and it sees Jack head back to his old Army days, but with a twist.

It’s up to Jack to save the day once again, and without giving too much away, we’re certain you’ll love this read from the spectacular author that is Lee Child.

6. The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkins

What’s great about this novel from Paula Hawkins is that it starts with the usual commute to work – something we’ve all faced at one point in our lives.

But this riveting story doesn’t stay this simple for long.

In the book, the reader follows the life of Rachel, who one day sees something on her morning train commute that will change her life forever.

The book is described as a ‘psychological thriller’, so if you’re looking for something to really capture your heart and soul whilst at Silver Bay Holiday Village, this could very well be the book you’ve been searching for!
