We look forward to seeing you all there and make sure to share your photos with us on social media.

Preparing your holiday home for winter
We’d like to remind you that the park will be closed from 4th January to 12th February. The cold weather can sometimes cause issues so it’s important to make sure your lodge is prepared for the downtime. Here’s a couple of useful tips:
Protect all your outdoor furniture by storing it either inside your shed or inside your lodge; any heavy glass-top tables will need turning upside down and securing
Turn your boiler to FROST STAT and turn your water supply off at the stopcock, you can make sure the system has run dry by opening all the taps. Alternatively, you may request a DRAIN DOWN, this will drain your holiday water supply, including the heating system, and antifreeze will be put into the system to avoid pipes freezing and bursting
We’d also like to remind you that the boat park will be secured by bollards over the season closure so please ensure all valuables and electronic equipment is removed from your boat if possible.
Spa Beauty Offers
You’ve still got some time left to make the most of our December spa and beauty offers.
Our treatment of the month is the ELEMIS Couture Touch Face & Body treatment, reduced from £60 to £40. The 60 minute treatment consists of an ELEMIS hands-on TOUCH facial with a personalised Freestyle Deep Tissue Massage or Deeper than Deep Hot Stone Massage.
If you don’t have time for a full treatment why not pick up our product of the month – ELEMIS Skin Buff. This deep cleansing exfoliator re-energises dull and lifeless skin, leaving skin brighter and allowing it to breathe.
You can find out more about our spa treatments here.
Finally, we’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and for those not able to attend the New Year’s Eve party, a Happy New Year!

Our stunning beach is a home to sea, sand, and a bucketload of fun – and we do everything we can to make sure it looks the part too!
From making sure our coast is green (which has won us a Green Coast Award) to improving our beachside facilities with our beautiful cafe (it’ll be open soon!), we endeavour to make every visit to Silver Bay Beach one to remember.
We were thrilled to discover last week that we’re now the proud owners of a Seaside Award. Presented to us by Keep Wales Tidy as part of the Wales coast Awards, Silver Bay Beach has been recognised for it’s tidy and well-tended to coast and waters.
Awarded for being home to quality facilities, we’re incredibly proud to everyone who works hard to make Silver Bay Beach the picturesque beach haven that it is. The Seaside Award recognises those coasts that meet the nationwide standard for the best beaches across the UK, and the flag is a symbol of superb quality, where visitors ‘are guaranteed to find a clean, safe, attractive and well-managed stretch of coast.’
Take a look at our shiny certificate below!
Lesley Jones, Chief Executive for Keep Wales Tidy stated:
“The Wales Coast Awards play a vital role in the continuing growth of coastal and marine tourism. They act as a mark of excellence, ensuring sites are managed effectively and showcasing our beautiful country to an international audience. Visitors to our award-winning beaches, marinas and boat tour operators can be sure they have arrived at a quality destination.”

Fantastic news! There’s been a certain buzz around the Silver Bay Holiday Village recently, more specifically in the form of 20,000 bees!
Not so long ago, we announced that we were launching a scheme to #SaveTheBees, an initiative that has been created to protect our flying friends who are synonymous with the English lifestyle and surrounding area of Anglesey.
In recent years, the honey bee has been under constant threat of depopulation, a problem that has been largely credited to a lack of forage and increasing use of pesticides.
However, under the BH&BPA David Bellamy Proposals – hundreds of parks have already got involved to Save Silver Bay Bees, a driving force which has been primarily led through social media involvement and community outreach.
Chris Buckley, Operations Manager at Silver Bay, reinforced the importance of public contribution to helping save the bee’s and the environment: “The scheme was driven by the desire to protect and contribute to the declining bee population nationwide. Almost 350 David Bellamy parks have achieved Honey Bee Friendly status. This means parks have put in the forage plants that bees need to survive. Spreading the word about the bee conservation will be a big focus of the Honey Bee Friendly Parks project this year.”
Save Silver Bay Bees with 5* Hotels
Alongside the huge insurgence of honey bees on Silver Bay grounds, there has also been creations of ‘Bee Hotels’, from small-scale bee B&B’s, to what can only be described as bee condominiums. If you haven’t got on the bee-hotel bandwagon, now’s the time to start. Take a look here for inspiration and advice.
5 Honey Bee Facts
Most of you by now may now be more informed to why we need to save our small, furry friends. But here’s a few honey bee facts to take the sting out of things:
Honey has antiseptic properties and was regularly used to dress wounds and burns many years ago.
Honey is massively important to pollinators allowing for flowers, vegetables and fruit to grow.
The average worker bee lives for just five to six weeks. While she is alive, she will only create a 12th of a teaspoon of honey.
Honey bees wiggle or dance to communicate with one another – usually this is to indicate the direction of the food source.
The queen bee can live up to five years. The summer months are always the busiest for her, where she will lay 2,500 eggs.
Why not make this the year you take the Honey Bee Friendly pledge? Take a look at www.bbka.org.uk/learn/gardening_for_bees for some great tips and more information here to get you started with helping to Save Silver Bay Bees.
While you’re here, check out our Honeycomb Recipe below.
200g caster sugar
3 tbsp of honey
¼ tbsp of cream of tartar
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp of bicarbonate of soda
Large heavy based pan
Put sugar, honey, cream of tartar & butter into a large heavy based pan with 60ml water (mixture should triple in size, so ensure pan is big enough)
Simmer until sugar and butter & butter dissolves.
Heat to 122 degrees celsius on thermometer, or until a small piece forms a solid ball when dropped in cold water.
Remove from heat & beat in bicarbonate of soda
Tip out immediately onto baking sheet & leave to cool – do not touch, it’s hot!
Once cool, break up and enjoy.
Store in an airtight container.
Update on the Hives
We now have two colonies of honey bees on site called “Heather” and “Willow”, both of which are named after important foraging flowers for the bees. Each colony is progressing well. In fact, they have doubled in size since arriving a few weeks ago and now each hive contains around 16,000-18,000 bees! They enjoy bringing in nectar from flowers and processing this into honey, and one of their favourite flower spots are the heather flowers on the coastal headland at the moment.
Our “Heather” hive is slightly larger than “Willow”, although the queen is shy and hard to spot! The queen of Willow, however, is quite happy to be seen going about her business and laying eggs.
We know some of our owners have been desperate to taste some of our honey, but you’ll have to be patient. All the honey collected now will be winter food stores for the bees themselves as they build up strength for the colder months. It’ll be next year that we’ll see a surplus that we’ll be able to enjoy, too!
Don’t forget our “Visit The Bees” days are held on Tuesdays in August, and we’ll also be hosting bee-related activities at Busy Bayers on Thursday mornings. Book in the spa if you don’t want to miss out!
Always dreamt of owning a holiday home at Silver Bay but fancied a visit first? Well, you’re in luck! On the 1st and 2nd of July, we’ll be opening our holiday village gates between 2pm and 4pm and welcoming visitors inside for our open day.

Saving The Honey Bees
This year, we’re focusing on helping out a creature that’s been a part of the English lifestyle for as long as we can remember – the honey bee.
What many don’t realise is that this majestic being has a population that is vastly dwindling, so we’ve decided to make Silver Bay a Honey Bee Friendly Park!
Expert beekeeper, Johnathan Garratt, will be visiting over the summer months to hold important educational bee sessions with the children, and they’ll even have the chance to get up close and personal with the fuzzy, buzzy creatures. There will also be lots of bee-themed activities including candle creation with beeswax and a chance to help us build our very own Bee Hotel!
Best of all, we’ll be welcoming 20,000 new residents this summer in the form of our fuzzy friends! The protection and encouragement of the honey bees will be part of our prestigious David Bellamy award this year. Two hives are being installed closely followed by two bee colonies, so make sure you keep an eye out.
Don’t miss it… because It’ll BEE fantastic!
Welcoming Karan, our new pastry chef
We know how much our lodge owners love something sweet, and to help elevate our stunning Deck House menu to the next level, we’ve welcome talented pastry chef, Karan, to the team.
Originally from London, Karan loves baking and making sweets such as honeycomb and marshmallow, and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the table!
We’ve also got a brand new kid’s pudding menu, so keep your eyes peeled for it when you’re next dining with us.
The Chill Out Zone is here!
It’s very important to us to listen to our owners’ feedback and act on your wishes – which is why we’re proud to announce that we’ve launched a brand new Chill Out Zone for teens!
Complete with a pool table, television, Wii, wifi, games and comfy bean bags, it’s a space attached to the Deck House where they can kick back and relax – and one where you can rest assured that your children are close by and safe.
The Chill Out Zone also welcomes children under 12 up until 9 pm, as long as they’re supervised by someone in the Deck House.

You’re a generous lot, and we’re pleased to announce that the Easter raffle and quiz raised £205 pounds for Wales Air Ambulance! Thank you to everyone who donated and took part – and we’d like to give a shout out to Resting Beach Face, who were our quiz champions.
We’d also like to take a moment to highlight the fantastic charity work our team members have done too. Heidi, Will, Toni and Sue all completed a 5k race course and raised £273 for the Stroke Association. Congratulations, everyone!

Learn to kayak in the safety of the pool where there will be two sessions for those aged between 7-11 years and 11-16 years from 1pm onwards. Then it’s time the little ones paint their salt dough (12:30pm) or perhaps try their hand at cooking up a storm in the kitchen with our exciting baking class (2:30pm).
Friday the 7th of April and Saturday the 8th are full to the top with activities for all ages. Our adult only swim returns at 9:30am, and the children will be spoilt for choice in the afternoon as they wile away the afternoon creating dream catchers (12:30pm), partaking in woodland activities (2:30pm) and then rounding the excitement off with a movie starting at 5:30pm.
Sunday provides a break for Busy Bayers, but there’s still plenty to do on site. Spend the day by the beach or in the pool. We’ll be hosting our supervised activities (09:30am) and spinning sessions in the gym (11:00am) too!
Monday 10th – Sunday 16th April
As Monday the 10th roles around, and Easter gets even closer, it looks as though it’s going to be an exciting week. Why not head to the gym for a cardio circuit session to sweat out all those toxins from the weekend at 11am? Or perhaps your children might want to work up a sweat themselves with one of our exciting dance sessions from 1pm?
Tuesday will be an important day for water lovers as we host our Life Saving session in the pool between 11:00 and 1:00pm. We’ll also be offering the chance for children under 6 to create adorable Easter bonnets (11:00am) which will certainly be worth a picture or two for the family album!

Monday 17th – Friday 21st April
Easter Monday is the perfect chance to catch up with any activities you’ve missed earlier in the week. Our cardio circuit (11:00am) and supervised gym sessions (3:00pm) are back, and so are our dance (1:00pm) and bird feeder making activities (5:00pm) for the children.
Don’t head home on Tuesday the 18th, instead spend some time taking part in our metafit studio gym session (11:00am). Or if sweating over cardio isn’t your thing, then why not clear your mind and stretch those muscles with a pilates session at 6pm?
On Wednesday we’re heading back down under the water for an exciting scuba lesson (1:00pm), follow this with legs, bums and tums (6pm) in the studio. For the children, we’ll be taking the woods for some woodland activities (2:30pm), followed closely by more arts and crafts than you can shake a stick at starting at 5pm!
Thursday is the 20th of April, and sadly the Easter holidays will be winding down. However, don’t fear, we’re still here to keep you topped up with fun! We’ll be hosting Orienteering for the children between 1:00 and 2:00pm in the gym studio, and then it’s time to try your hand at salt dough modelling (12:30pm) or create something scrumptious during our baking activity between 2:30 and 4:30pm. Round it all off with seed bomb making (5:00pm) as we make it our aim to fill our site with awe-inspiring plants.
Friday the 21st of April is our final day of activities. Our adult only swim is on again between 09:30 and 10:30am, followed by kayaking between 1:00 and 2:00pm for those aged 7-11yrs. There’s also an extra session for those aged 11-16yrs between 2:00 and 3:00pm – so make sure you choose the right session for your age range!
That’s it for Easter at Silver Bay for 2017. We’ll soon be looking forwards to the May half term when we’ll get the chance to relive the fun all over again. In the meantime, we wish you a happy Easter and hope the Easter Bunny pays you a visit!
As we wave goodbye to winter, there’s a sense of optimism in the air as spring is on the horizon. Brightly-coloured daffodils are swaying in a warm breeze, bringing happiness to our gardens, and fluffy baby animals are taking their first steps into the world.
And with this magical time of year comes one very special holiday that young and old alike can enjoy – Easter. In Wales there are many magical traditions including Anglesey egg clapping, which would see little ones heading from farms and asking for eggs by beating percussion instruments and singing songs – a delightful sight indeed!
From indulging in creamy chocolate eggs to sitting down together as one big family for a tasty roast dinner, Easter is one of our favourite times of year. And best of all, there are an array of eggcellent activities (see what we did there…) taking place across Anglesey. Fancy hunting for chocolate eggs? Or perhaps you’d like to get involved with some Easter crafts? Below we’ve got the event for you!
Crafts and Easter Hunt at Beaumaris Castle
What would Easter be without an Easter egg hunt? Take your little ones along to Beaumaris castle and spend the day hunting for the Easter Bunny himself!
Like the cheeky bunny he is, he has left clues to his whereabouts – and it’s your job to find them and discover where he’s hiding. You might even win a chocolatey surprise at the end for all your hard work! But that isn’t where the fun stops.
There will also be crafts in abundance on Easter Sunday, and you’ll even get the chance to make an Easter mask. Plus, if you bring an old, clean sock you can also create a sock bunny to take away with you! It’s a great event to get those creative juices flowing and the ideal chance to have bucket-loads of fun.
Discover more here. The event will be taking place on the 16th of April. Tickets are £6.50 per adult and £4.20 per child, and there is also a special family ticket for £19.30 that admits two adults and up to three children.
Gather the family together and spend some quality time bonding over a luscious Sunday roast. There’s nothing quite as comforting as filling your boots with a well-cooked English dinner staple, and with our relaxed atmosphere and refined food you’ll be in for a treat.
As usual, we’ll be using the very best of local ingredients to craft a special roast dinner experience that lodge owners and Anglesey locals will adore. To find out more about our menu and book a table, click here or call us on 01407 860 860. We’ve also just launched our brand new spring menu!
The Great Cadbury’s Egg Hunt – Plas Newydd House and Gardens
Didn’t find enough chocolate at Beaumaris Castle? Well, don’t fear! Plas Newydd will also be hosting an egg-hunting event sponsored by none other than Cadbury’s themselves.
The Easter Bunny has visited Anglesey to spend some time with his dear friend, Red Squirrel. But sadly, he’s gone missing!
Hosted by the National Trust, the event will start at 11 am and finish at 3 pm and will be running between the 1st of April and the 23rd. There’s no need to book, and if you do find the Red Squirrel you can expect a yummy chocolate prize at the end.
To start the trail, head to the Cadbury’s tent, which is located adjacent to the house.
Medieval Easter Weekend – Beaumaris Castle
As well as hosting an exciting Easter egg hunt, Beaumaris Castle will also be educating their visitors over the Easter weekend with an extra-special medieval theme.
Visitors will get the chance to dive right into the heart of the medieval period as the staff recreate exactly what life was like back when the castle was first constructed.
Children can also partake in a fantastic Knight School and there will be even more arts and crafts, as well as a Birds of Prey demonstration, that the little ones will love.
To round off the day, head to the fight arena and cheer for your favourite knight as they battle for victory. It’ll be a visit to Beaumaris Castle you’ll never forget and one that the whole family will enjoy.
