Here on Anglesey there are many places you can go to track down this tasty Sunday tradition, but there’s only a few that are really something special.

So if you want to get the family together this Sunday and bond over the goodness of meat, vegetables and potatoes drenched in rich gravy, this is the blog for you.

1. The Hay House Bistro at Silver Bay Holiday Village

If you’re looking for a place to eat a delicious roast dinner that doesn’t require you leaving our holiday village site, then why not pop over to The Hay House bistro?

Making the most of great local produce and putting together simple yet tantalising dishes are our main aim at our restaurant. In fact, hearty food that will leave you smiling and satisfied is what we’re all about – and we can’t think of a better way place that will present you with tasty dishes all the family can enjoy.

2. The Lobster Pot

If you fancy heading out for the evening away from the park, we recommend you take a visit to The Lobster Pot on Anglesey for a tasty Sunday lunch.

They host a special 3-course menu on Sunday, and you get to pick from starters such as homemade soup, chicken liver pate and spicy crab cakes. There’s also a vegetarian choice of samosas and spring rolls – ensuring everyone is catered to.

With the main, you can expect classics such as mashed and roast potatoes, gravy and a crisp yet soft Yorkshire pudding. There are five meats to choose from including pork, duckling and even salmon if you’re feeling like something a little adventurous. There’s even lobster on offer if you want a Sunday roast with a twist!

Pubs tend to do an amazing roast dinner. Whether it’s the rustic surroundings that make it that little bit more special, or just a sprinkling of pub grub fun – roast dinners at The Black Lion Inn are exceptional!

There’s an extra special Sunday lunch menu on offer here, and there are a range of starters included breaded brie and pork belly to get your tastebuds tingling for the main event.

The meats on offer with your main meal include a gorgeous stuffed roast loin of pork, as well as shorthorn beef and other options including salmon. There’s also a vegetarian main of slow roasted courgette with creamed leeks and toasted walnuts – making sure every type of eater is left satisfied after Sunday lunch at this establishment.

There’s also a range of tantalising treats we recommend you indulge in to round off your meal. Sticky toffee pudding, apple and blackberry crumble and a cheese board are just a few tempting sweets you can choose from.

4. Trearddur Bay Hotel

What we really love about the Trearddur Bay Hotel is the extensive menu they have on offer. This is changed seasonally, with both spring and winter menus around. Yet it’s the traditional roast dinner that catches our rumbling stomachs here once again.

There isn’t just one meat on your plate at this restaurant, and there isn’t two either. There are THREE meats on this dish, and this is matched perfectly alongside Yorkshire puddings, roasties, veggies and even cauliflower cheese!

You can round this gorgeous roast dinner dream with a heavenly dessert. Whether you’re lemon cheesecake kind of person, or perhaps fancy going out and indulging in the American classic Knickerbocker Glory, there’ll be something on offer here for you to satisfy your Sunday sweet tooth.

5. Harry’s Bistro

Our final entry on the list comes from Harry’s Bistro in Beaumaris. This establishment is only open between 12-2pm on a Sunday, but it’s more than worth a visit indeed!

They have a special Sunday menu that tends to change, so if you want the most up to date information it’s best to give them a call. But it’s a fantastic place that will see the likes of rarebit Welsh tartlet or tempura king prawns as a starter (there’s usually a choice of a few!), followed closely by Welsh beef or lamb, cod, poached eggs and also roasted chicken – most of which benefit from roast potatoes and a selection of scrummy fresh vegetables.

For dessert, imagine the likes of apricot crumble, fresh fruit pavlova, a cheeseboard and much more. You won’t be disappointed with a visit to Harry’s Bistro for a relaxing, scrumptious roast dinner.
