2017 has been an eventful year for us here at Silver Bay Holiday Village and before we start looking forward to what 2018 has to bring, we thought we’d take a look back on the year. Take a look at our roundup video below and keep reading to find out more.

Parties galore

We love a good party and 2017 was no exception…

We started off the summer season with our annual summer party in The Deck House Restaurant with something to keep all ages entertained. Mr Trix’s magic show entertained the children while our lodge owners caught up with friends, old and new, in the bar. The night was topped off with Silver Bay Summer Party favourites, Runaway Babies, playing a medley of pop classics.

For October half term we welcomed owners back for our Halloween party and this year did not disappoint. We were very impressed with the costumes this year; you can take a look at the whole collection of snaps over on our Facebook page. Here’s one to give you a taste:

December isn’t complete without a Christmas party. We were joined by owners, family and friends for a night of games, dancing and a visit from Santa! You can find out more and take a look at our photos from the night over in our Christmas round up blog.

Silver Bay Holiday Village Christmas party

To top off a fabulous year, we hosted our annual New Year’s Eve party. The theme in 2017 was the 80s so we expected some big hairdos and over-the-top costumes – we were not disappointed! We were joined by Freddie Mercury and the cast of Top Gun, to name a few, for a night of dancing, food and drink. You can take a look at all the costumes here but here’s one of our favourites – we especially love the mohawks!

Holiday activities

We like to make sure we’ve got a jam-packed schedule over the holidays for our owners and Busy Bayers, from wool club and toasting marshmallows to adult only swims and spinning classes.

Over the Easter holidays our Busy Bayers were spoilt for choice with arts and crafts, baking and an Easter egg hunt.

Easter eggs in a basket

During the summer we launched our #SaveTheBees scheme and we now have two colonies of honey bees on site; keep an eye out later this year for our very own supply of honey!

Silver Bay Holiday Village honey bee colonies

The summer saw the return of Beach Mudder where our owners battled once more to take the crown – well done again to the Psycho Unicorns! We also hosted our annual sandcastle competition and fishing competition.

New faces and places

We expanded our team this year to carry on providing a top notch service to our lodge owners. In February, we welcomed Katherine and Jacqueline to the Owner’s Services team and in May we welcomed talented pastry chef, Karan, to help elevate The Deck House menu to the next level.

We listened to your feedback and in May we launched the Chill Out Zone for teens, complete with a pool table, television, Wii, wifi and games.

Open days

For those who dreamt of owning a holiday home but wanted to visit first we opened our gates at various points throughout the year for visitors to explore our stunning lodges and facilities, accompanied by champagne and nibbles. Keep an eye out for open day dates in 2018!

Awards

In July we were thrilled to be presented a Seaside Award from Keep Wales Tidy as part of the Wales Coast Awards in recognition of Silver Bay Beach’s tidy and well-tended coast and waters. Make sure to keep sharing your beautiful beach images on Instagram with the hashtag #SilverBayBeach and we’ll feature the best ones on our Instagram page.

2017 was a busy year and we’ve only just scratched the surface of the events and activities that took place, you can read about these in more detail on our blog page.

mands-christmas-decorations.jpg

The first weekend of December has been and gone and that can only mean one thing – it’s time to put your Christmas decorations up! We’ve been keeping an eye on the latest decoration trends this year to help make your holiday lodge look extra special over the festive period. Here are some of the top trends to help you on your way:

Scandinavian

From Scandi-noir TV series gracing our screens to Hygge taking the country by storm last Christmas, Scandinavian culture has well and truly made its way into our lives.

The trend is very much about “less is more” with a focus on the colour white, even down to the colour of your Christmas lights (keep to white bulbs rather than mixing them with warm, yellow bulbs). To keep to the minimal aesthetic, try to stick to only one or two colours throughout the house.

The tradition of kissing under the mistletoe comes from Norse mythology so it makes sense to complete the theme with a sprig hanging above the door. Why not tie it together with a ribbon in your chosen colour scheme? Stockings hung over the fireplace is also a Christmas essential; maybe try some white, knitted ones in-keeping with that cosy, Scandi feeling.

Quirky

On the opposite end of the spectrum is the quirky trend where you can mix as many themes and colours as you want, sometimes the more the better. If you do want to stick to a theme, how about going tropical? Palm tree prints aren’t just confined to summer and pineapple-shaped glassware and baubles are everywhere this year, too.

Not keen on the tropical theme? Why not go for a cactus, unicorn or even a llama? The rule of the quirky trend is that there are no rules, but if you want a bit of direction think colourful decorations in block colours, clashing patterns, neon brights, quirky accessories and pops of metallic.

Country

Countryside styling takes the classic festive look and gives it a farmhouse spin. It’s all about using raw and rustic materials paired with classic shapes and designs. Up-cycled pieces also play a big part and give that homely, tactile feeling.

When picking your decorations think raw wood, textured finishes, industrial metals, hessian fabric, linens and vintage tableware.

Festive flowers

Bringing the outdoors indoors is more prevalent than ever, with many people filling their houses with indoor plants and buying fresh flowers, so it’s no surprise that this has influenced Christmas decorations as well. You may have noticed most shops now sell the classic Poinsettia, known as the “Christmas flower” in North America.

This festive season no flower arrangement would be complete without some sparkle and glitter and many florists are taking a modern approach by combining crisp, white flowers with different metals. This year’s bouquets are also bursting with colour, featuring festive reds and greens.

There’s many ways you can bring the outdoors inside this Christmas; how about entwining a floral garland around your staircase or framing a mirror? Or why not create a spectacular floral centrepiece for the table?

Metallics

This year, metallics featured heavily in both interior design and fashion and there’s no exception when it comes to Christmas decorations.

Copper, rose gold and bronze will be bigger than ever this festive period and this isn’t restricted to just the decorations. Hosting and entertaining is a big part of Christmas so your tableware is the perfect place to add a touch of glamour.

Whether you’re going for the minimal Scandi look or the over-the-top quirky trend when decorating your holiday lodge, we’d love to see your photos. Make sure to share your photos with us on Facebook and Instagram and tag Silver Bay with the hashtag #SilverBayXmas

The Wessex Classic

You don’t get the word ‘classic’ in your name without being a truly magnificent holiday home, and the Wessex is a lodge that you’ll enjoy holidaying in time and time again.

Featuring wall-length windows and a stunning, open plan living space, with room for all your loved ones, the Wessex classic is a classic example of what a holiday home should be.

The homely kitchen is equipped with all the high-tech essentials, and the living and dining space parades a tranquil ambiance as the natural light flows through. Relax in the bedroom of an evening, rest assured in the knowledge that your holiday home really is a picture-perfect paradise.

The Vista

Surrounded by envy-inducing decking and home to modern and chic decor, the Vista holiday lodge is a delight. Step through the double french doors and into bliss, soaking up the contemporary styling and uplifting decor.

Skylights are a beautiful feature throughout this property, and they add a certain element of luxury that regular windows simply cannot afford. Spotlights also decorate the lodge ceiling, providing ample light and views of the stars when night falls.

The spacious bedrooms will keep everyone in the family happy, and the two bathrooms, one of which is ensuite, ensures that this property is certainly well above par. The Vista is simply waiting for a loving family to turn this magnificent holiday lodge into a holiday home. Could it be you?

The Reef Edge

Few holiday homes impress as much as the Reef Edge does on first sight.

Enjoy dining alfresco on the stunning decking as the sun sets, or head inside to a welcoming holiday lodge where you’ll forever feel at home.

The dark wooden floors and contrasting light walls are what first draws the eye in the property. Each add an element of character and style to the property, and act as the perfect backdrop to the elegant furniture.

Curl up on the plush, cream sofas, or spend some time playing a family board game on the gorgeous wood dining table complete with wicker chairs. Then retire to one of the luxurious bedrooms and unwind in the heart of refined holiday home living. You won’t look back!

The Oyster Catcher

Benefiting from year-round comfort and style, the Oyster Catcher is a beauty.

Brand new to the site for 2017, this lodge comes with a modern, integrated kitchen and is an advocate for open plan living. Light floods through this holiday home, providing a light and airy feel. The beechwood styling in the Oyster Catcher also adds to this comfortable ambiance – and the mustard accents provide a dash of bright colour that really pops.

Cook up a storm in the rustic kitchen, or relax in the standalone bath tub fit for royalty; there’s something about this property that captures the heart.

A favourite with children, who adore the built-in bunk beds, the Oyster Catcher is the ideal place to spend your free time on the gorgeous Isle of Anglesey.

The Look Out

Our final new lodge for 2017 is the Look Out.

Arranged over a variety of floors, the Look Out is eye catching and unique, offering both excellent fixtures and fittings as well as an inspiring exterior.

This holiday home is all about modern furnishings and magnificent views, and due to the fact it’s on one of the most desirable spots here at Silver Bay, it’s a firm favourite.

It features a chic, 60s colour scheme and combines this with multi-level living. A triumph of architectural design in holiday lodges, it has to be seen to be believed. It will be love at first sight with this lodge, of that we’re sure!

The Lookout – Luxury Holiday Lodge At Silver Bay…

Few luxury holiday lodge properties have the bespoke, sumptuous feel that the Lookout Lodge encapsulates. With the beautiful, unique living space feeding through towards a stunning kitchen diner and a variety of luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms, the Lookout holiday lodge is unequivocal in both style and charm.

But to really get into the beating heart of this holiday home requires further exploration, so stay with us as we whisk you away on a journey through this property’s elegant, chic nature.

Living Space

Multi-level rooms are the Lookout’s solution to modern living. Venture up a small flight of stairs and you’ll find yourself in the heart of the lodge; the stunning living space. With full-length windows allowing for a gentle light fill every corner, the Lookout living room is soaked in natural light, where you can’t help but feel optimistic.

The corner sofa and wall to wall radiator contribute to what this living room does best – offering a cosy atmosphere – and the delicate cream tones with accents of mustard and dark grey provide a contemporary edge into the room that really catches the eye. Spend winter evenings nestled amongst the pillows, and during the warmer months while away the days relaxing on the lodge’s bespoke sofa with the terrace doors thrown open, a cool breeze enveloping you.

Whatever you enjoy doing in your living room at home can be recreated in the Lookout holiday lodge, only tenfold.

Kitchen & Dining

Often thought of as the soul of the property, the kitchen and dining space in the Lookout is distinctive with an edge of luxury.  Decorated with the same relaxing creams and mustards, and deep, thoughtful greys throughout the rest of the property, the modern, on-trend kitchen provides plenty of side space, storage and kitchen mod cons. Keep the family closer than ever before as the lines between cooking and dining blur into one, offering a wholesome family eating experience.

The dining area in the Lookout is framed by stunning wall-length windows, bringing an alfresco feel to breakfast, lunch and dinner all year round. The glorious, mustard and white dining set is a dream to dress with elegant tableware, and it’s the perfect place for those you love to catch up in a way that is sometimes lost in hectic everyday life.

Bedrooms

After a busy day exploring, relaxing and having fun, there’s no better feeling than sliding into your pyjamas and spending the night in a Lookout bedroom. The master is complete with a stylish, spacious bed and is decorated with a myriad of retro yet elegant features, and the large windows, yet again, bring in the beautiful surroundings found at our award-winning holiday park.

The mirrored wall decor and the eye-catching glass lights add an element of chic to the property, and there is a total of three, stunning bedrooms to choose from – one of which is complete with four funky, built-in bunk beds that little ones will adore.

Bathrooms

The Lookout has two bathrooms, the main one containing an elegant bathroom set finished with a modern, geometrical bath tub that you’ll be desperate to soak in as soon as you lay eyes on it

The second bathroom is an ensuite to the master bedroom, and comes with porcelain sink, toilet and a shower cubicle, meaning there’s plenty of space for everyone to get ready in peace in the morning.

Each bathroom is home to calming white tones that sets the tranquil ambience, so much so that you’ll be hard pressed not to appreciate the summit of luxury this holiday home radiates.

There’s nothing we enjoy more than introducing more extraordinary properties to our breathtaking holiday park, which is why we’re proud to present the second article in our Luxury Lodge Spotlight, this time focusing on The Vista.

This ingenious piece of innovative architecture is one that not only provides a stunning sanctuary away from everyday life, it also offers up a tangible luxury that means you won’t want to leave. With the Vista you can even stargaze from your own bedroom.

So what are you waiting for? Step inside…

Living Space

A vista is defined as ‘a pleasing view’, and that’s precisely what this holiday home provides. Filled with an abundance of light that transposes into an airy feel, this spacious property has magnificent skylights installed, providing avenues of light no matter where you are.

Distressed wooden furniture features throughout the Vista, offering dining and coffee table focal points to be proud of. Both are places of beauty that are hungering for a family to gather around with a tasty dinner or a family movie.

The interior decorations truly are inspired, and the Vista’s living space benefits from tranquil, olive coloured walls matched alongside the light, wooden floors – which give this holiday home a true, bespoke quality.

It’s not hard to see why families fall for this home as soon as they lay eyes on it.

Kitchen & Dining

The Vista is famous for its open-plan living experience, providing a hub for friends and loved ones to gather for activities in the heart of their holiday home.

Complete with all the modern amenities, from cooker to American-style fridge, freezer, the Vista kitchen is nothing short of outstanding. Spotlights under the luxurious white kitchen cupboards deliver a modern ambiance while still setting a comfortable mood, and the centre kitchen island is the ideal place to cook together as a family unit.

The dining space of this luxury holiday lodge is situated down a step into the lower part of the open living space. The distressed oak offers a unique dining experience – a place that is relaxing and impression – and one where many happy memories will be made in the coming years.

The Vista’s interior is simply waiting for a family just like yours to inject love and companionship.

Bedrooms

For a holiday home to be truly exquisite and luxurious, the sleeping quarters need also provide a comfortable yet opulent place to rest your head – and the Vista does not disappoint.

Available with up to three bedrooms, the master bedroom comes with a magnificent ensuite, allowing the central bathroom to be exclusively for the children and visitors. Other bedrooms in the property come with two beds, yielding enough room for a family of four, five or six to holiday on the glorious Anglesey coast.

The spotlights and skylights that are favoured in the living space also appear in the bedrooms, allowing the property to flow. Distressed wooden features are also situated in the bedrooms, with the accent look appearing on bedside tables and cupboards – and storage space is in abundance for those families with lots of personal treasures.

Bathrooms

We’ve already touched upon the bathrooms, but it’s hard not to when they’re so breathtakingly beautiful.

The ensuite in the Vista lodge features a state-of-the-art toilet, sink and a curved shower cubicle – perfect for washing the sand out of your hair after visiting Silver Bay Beach. The main bathroom also boasts the same modern bathroom staples, and both are decorated in a beautiful, harmonising greys that add a sense of calm that ebbs and flows around the property.

silver-bay-holiday-village-anglesey-couple-on-a-walk.jpg

A holiday away from reality can be one of the most romantic times of the year for couples, but for those with families, one-on-one time with your loved one can sometimes fall to the wayside.

However, this doesn’t have to be the case.

There are plenty of things couples can do whether they have families or not, that’ll make the trip away together extra special. So for some expert, romance holiday advice, you’ve come to the right place!

1. PLAN A DATE NIGHT

If one night is all you can spare, grab it with both hands. An evening together can go an incredibly long way when it comes to taking time out for one another.

This can be as in depth or as simple as you like. If all you want is a meal together with a chilled bottle of fine wine, there are few better places on the Isle of Anglesey than The Deck House. In fact, why not make it extra special andtake a look at our private dining options?

However, a date night doesn’t just have to be about having a meal. Heading out on the town for a few fruity cocktails or venturing on a beautiful head-clearing walk (we recommend a wander down Beaumaris Pier if you’re on our island), are both perfect choices. It’s all about doing something a little different in your schedule.

2. TAKE A TRIP TO THE SPA

Visiting the Spa is one of the most relaxing things a person to do. It’s a chance to let go of the things on your mind and focus on yourself, and what better person to do that with than the one you love?

Sometimes, you both need a break, and an afternoon at the spa can make you feel as though you’ve been away relaxing for days. A couples massage is the perfect way to take any strains and stresses out of your mind and your relationship, so why not treat yourselves? You can take a look at our full collection of spa treatments right here.

3. DO SOMETHING UNIQUE

Perhaps you and your loved one do go on dates a lot, but what you’re actually feeling tired with is the endless meals and drinks out.

Well, why not do something a little different?

Here at Silver Bay, we pride ourselves on offering the space and opportunities for you to do something unique. Head out together on a kayak, or perhaps spend some time beach combing and snorkelling together in our blue waters. Rekindle your sense of adventure together and do something worth remembering – it will revitalise your date life!

4. HEAD TO THE BEACH

When it comes to romantic settings, few places outdo th beach. There’s something relaxing about experiencing the end of the land as it merges into the sea. As you look out onto the horizon, your lover’s hand in your own, it can feel like anything is possible.

Discuss your future, hopes and dreams and you’ll find that you’re closer than ever before. And remember, you don’t need to escape to faraway shores to discover a beautiful coast. Our Silver Bay Beach is both awe-inspiring and award-winning, making it the perfect date spot.

5. STAY IN

Going on a date by default usually involves going out. But have you and your loved one ever thought about bringing the date inside? Whether you’re staying in one of our stunning lodges, or at home, why not nip to the corner shop for a bottle of bubbly? Perhaps pick up a few cheeses and Italian meats, matched perfectly with a thick, crusty bread.

Turn on the radio or put some songs on your phone, light some candles and then have a picnic in your own quarters. There’s nothing more intimate when it’s just the two of you by candle light.

6. MAKE IT A DOUBLE DATE

Sometimes it can be hard to head out on a date if you haven’t been alone together for a while, so there is another avenue that you can try to get back into the swing of things.

Double dates are usually something enjoyed by teenagers and young adults, but double dates can actually be a very clever way to spend time with friends and your loved one! With busy lives and children, this is a great opportunity to reconnect with your chums and there is sure to be fun and endless conversation between all partners. Why not even make it a triple date? A group night out at the Deck House is guaranteed fun – and who knows, with warm and welcoming Silver Bay community, you’re likely to even make new friends along the way! Go on, get social!

7. RENEW YOUR VOWS

For an extra special holiday to remember, why not renew your vows?

It’s the perfect way for any loved-up married couple to mark a defining point in their relationship, all the while paying tribute to your unwavering feelings for one another. It can be extravagant or as subtle as your like, with as many or as few guests as you like, too.

Your relationship will feel brand new as your pledge your love for one another once more, so why not start planning right away?

8. PRETEND IT’S YOUR FIRST DATE AGAIN

For our last romantic suggestion, we thought we’d suggest something a little different. Rekindling romance can be a tiring task if you have been together for a long time, so why not do something you’ve not done for a long time? Go on a ‘first date’!

Have your partner turn up to the bar or restaurant first, with you joining a few minutes later. Assume pretend names if you like and spend some time getting to know each other again. It might feel a bit silly at first, and even if it isn’t something you can take series, nothing fuels love quicker than laughter.

There’s nothing quite like visiting the Spa at Silver Bay to escape from the whirlwind of everyday life.

Our spa is open to both lodge owners and country club members, and the Spa at Silver Bay will provide you with the opportunity to find yourself through relaxation and peaceful serenity.

Below we’ve explored just a few of our Spa highlights, so if you’ve been looking a calming space on the Isle of Anglesey, you’re in for a treat.

OUR POOL

A standout feature of our Spa is, of course, our pool. Coming in at 15.5 metres longs, these tranquil waters offer the chance to swim, relax and if you want to, just float. There’s even a special children’s splash area at the side to encourage a more relaxed swimming environment for adults.

No matter what the weather, our pool is there to provide you with a water sanctuary to back crawl, front crawl, maybe even doggy paddle – however you swim and get those muscles moving, there’ll be a home for it in our pool.

And of course, swimming has a variety of benefits on the body and mind. According to Coach Magazine, water is 12 times denser than air, so the resistance is great for muscle toning. As well as this, the NHS claim that swimming can ‘reduce the risk of chronic illnesses […] boost your mood and keep your weight under control’ – meaning that some time in the pool has the ability to alter multiple aspects of your life for the better.

JACUZZI, SAUNA AND STEAM ROOM

As the bubbles float around you and the warm, soothing waters banish any unwanted worries, your time in the jacuzzi at our spa is well spent. And if the hot bath-like experience isn’t for you, we also have a sauna and a steam room.

Known for their many skin and health benefits, these spa staples allow you to shut out the world and become one with the heat as it ripples softly along your skin.

Jacuzzis are favoured for their ability to ease muscle pain, reduce stress and also improve circulation according tolivestrong.com, who also discuss the ever-popular saunas stating that the ‘effect on the body is similar to doing mild exercise’ – as well as also improving circulation.

Finally, a steam room is also extremely beneficial on the body and mind. Health Fitness Revolution discuss this on their website, claiming that they relieve tension, reduce stress, clear your skin and much more.

FITNESS SUITE

Seek that adrenaline high with an hour or two in our stunning fitness suite. Filled with top of the range technology, from exercise bikes to treadmills and weights, whatever your fitness routine we’ll have the items you need to fulfill it.

We have a range of classes available including the ever-popular ‘Spinning’, favoured for its ability to quickly burn calories and reduce stress – and we can also over Personal Training programs alongside our expert fitness instructors.

Exercise has both psychological and physical benefits, the NHS website states that exercise can reduce the risk of major illnesses such as heart disease and cancer by up to 50%. They also go on to say that research has shown that exercise boosts self-esteem, your mood and also your sleep quality and energy levels. What’s not to like?

And why not treat yourself to a wonderful treatment after or some time in the jacuzzi? We’re certain you’ll have earnt it!

FACIALS

A facial is exactly what a person needs to release all those negative feelings and reach optimum relaxation. Our Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Facial has been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles by up to 94% and improve your skin firmness by 57% – all just after one, single treatment.

A favourite with spa-goers already, the facial features both Padina Pavonica and red coral which pumps out the fine lines on your face. It’s the perfect, refreshing facial that will leave your skin looking more youthful.

NAIL TREATMENTS

Go into the Spa at Silver Bay feeling drab and un-groomed and come out looking like a million bucks!

Yes, whether it’s a quick shape and tidy, a full on set of acrylics or a bold, neon pedi, the Spa at Silver Bay will have the power to transform your nails, and lift your mood.

One of our clients’ favourites are Shellac Nails. They offer a glamorous statement and are popular with lots of our luxury lodge owners at Silver Bay. Half gel and half nail polish, these nails are a stylish fashion statement that anyone who’s anyone has. Match this alongside our manicure treatment and those hard working hands that we so often neglect will be lavished in luxury.

Leave your hands feeling good as new, and revel in being the envy of the park, with your Shellac treatment that can be any colour from bright pink to a neutral nude – go on, treat yourself!

AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy is a word we’re likely all familiar, but some still people aren’t quite sure what it exactly is – and that’s okay. Focussing on naturally extracted oils, this therapy type helps to promote a healthy mind and body.

Oils are used to give you a relaxing massage, and the therapy is also sometimes used to treat anxiety and depression according to bupa.co.uk. So for a relaxing afternoon that’s going to improve your state of mind, an Aromatherapy treatment could be the perfect choice for you.

SWEDISH BODY MASSAGE

Few do massages as well as the Swedish, so it’s no surprise that these amazing treatments are popular across the world. Used to relax the entire body, Swedish Massages are the perfect massage for first timers at the Spa, and tend to be suited to everyone. It’s up to you to let your therapist know the intensity you’d like during the treatment, they can be both rough or soft, making it easy to enjoy a massage experience suited to your taste.

There are a range of massage techniques used, with Effleurage being the one favoured with according to treatwell.com. This will see your massage therapist use their hands to rub your muscles with the aim to push blood in the direction of your heart. You can also point our problem areas with aches and pains if you’d like your therapist to focus on a certain area where you’ve been having issues.

Our Swedish treatments tend to last 55 minutes. However, we also offer a back, neck and shoulder package that lasts 25 minute. Treatwell.com also claim that this is one the most popular massage options due to the fact that people tend to be tight in these areas after sitting at a computer all day.
