The Easter holidays may almost be over but we’re still feeling in that holiday mood from the success of our Easter activities. We want to thank everyone that visited Silver Bay during the holidays, it wouldn’t have been the same without you!

From scuba diving and lifeguarding to football and pilates, and not forgetting a whole selection of arts and crafts activities for the Busy Bayers, there really was something for everyone to enjoy over the holidays.

This year we changed things up slightly for the Silver Bay Easter egg hunt with people of all ages searching every nook and cranny of the park for codes to solve the final puzzle; it was great to see friends and families working together to find the codes and earn their Easter eggs.

Easter egg hunt at Silver Bay

After working up an appetite at the Easter egg hunt we served up a carvery with a selection of different meats and all the trimmings. We received some great feedback on the carvery and will be doing it again soon, keep an eye on our Facebook page for any updates.

Halfway through the holidays we welcomed prospective lodge owners to our Easter Open Day to experience Silver Bay for themselves, including our luxury lodges, facilities and beach. We hope to open our gates again soon so make sure to keep an eye out for our next email invite.

Do you feel like you need some extra rest and relaxation after the Easter holidays? Why not take advantage of our Spa Treatment of the Month? This month we’re offering ELEMIS Intensely Cleansing Salt Scrub for just £25. Call the spa on 01407 862049 to book.

We may be entering the final few days of our Easter activities but it won’t be long until the May half term where we’ll have a whole host of activities to keep the family occupied; look out for our activity newsletter, coming soon. If you’d like to find out more about how to become a lodge owner at Silver Bay or would like to arrange a visit you can request a callback from a member of our friendly team or view our online brochure.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended our annual Christmas party on the 9th December. We were joined by owners, family and friends for games and dancing plus a visit from Santa himself!

To remember the night we’ve put together a video of some of our favourite photos, we’d love to see your photos from the night as well so make sure to share them with us and use the hashtag #SilverBayXmas.

Can’t see your photo in the video? Make sure to check out our Facebook photo album and tag yourself, family and friends.

New Year’s Eve Party

After our successful Christmas Party it’s time to look forward to New Year’s Eve. Tickets are now sold out for this event but for those of you who are attending, dig out your shoulder pads and hairspray and get ready to go back to the 80s! We look forward to seeing you all there and make sure to share your photos with us on social media.

We also have some activities taking place over the New Year’s weekend for the Busy Bayers, such as arts and crafts, baking and hair braiding. You can find out more about specific activities and times in our Christmas newsletter blog.

Preparing your holiday home for winter

We’d like to remind you that the park will be closed from 4th January to 12th February. The cold weather can sometimes cause issues so it’s important to make sure your lodge is prepared for the downtime. Here’s a couple of useful tips:

  • Protect all your outdoor furniture by storing it either inside your shed or inside your lodge; any heavy glass-top tables will need turning upside down and securing
  • Turn your boiler to FROST STAT and turn your water supply off at the stopcock, you can make sure the system has run dry by opening all the taps. Alternatively, you may request a DRAIN DOWN, this will drain your holiday water supply, including the heating system, and antifreeze will be put into the system to avoid pipes freezing and bursting

We’d also like to remind you that the boat park will be secured by bollards over the season closure so please ensure all valuables and electronic equipment is removed from your boat if possible.

Spa Beauty Offers

You’ve still got some time left to make the most of our December spa and beauty offers.

Our treatment of the month is the ELEMIS Couture Touch Face & Body treatment, reduced from £60 to £40. The 60 minute treatment consists of an ELEMIS hands-on TOUCH facial with a personalised Freestyle Deep Tissue Massage or Deeper than Deep Hot Stone Massage.

If you don’t have time for a full treatment why not pick up our product of the month – ELEMIS Skin Buff. This deep cleansing exfoliator re-energises dull and lifeless skin, leaving skin brighter and allowing it to breathe.

You can find out more about our spa treatments here.

Finally, we’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and for those not able to attend the New Year’s Eve party, a Happy New Year!

As we wave goodbye to the chilly winter air and the first signs of spring start to emerge, it can only mean one thing here at Silver Bay – February half-term!

As usual, we have an exciting schedule jam-packed with a range of activities for all ages. From Wool Club to Toasting Marshmallows, your little ones will be thoroughly entertained with Busy Bayers

We also have a variety of activities for parents too, with Adult Only swims and Spinning classes to keep you active and healthy in the holidays.

But it doesn’t end there! Beyond the February schedule there are even more activities coming up for our lovely lodge owners.

We’re planning on breaking a Guinness World Record this year and we need your ideas! As well as hosting lots of fun activities, romance will be in the air between the 12th and 18th of February as we launch our fabulous Valentine’s Day Specials in The Deck House.

The love-filled dishes include Salmon, Spinach, and Cream Cheese Wellington, as well as a sumptuous Love Heart Vanilla and Strawberry Cheesecake. The full menu is available below, and if you’d like to book simply email us at deckhouse@silverbay.co.uk.Valentine's Day (5).jpg

Finally, we have two new friendly faces on our Silver Bay family. Both Katherine and Jacqueline have joined the Owner’s Service Team – so make sure you give them a friendly wave if you see them on site! We’re also pleased to announced that Hugh from our Maintenance and Grounds team has won employee of the month for the second time running! Congrats, Hugh, you’re an incredible member of the Silver Bay team!

On June 20th 2015, the Anglesey Showground will play host to the annual Children and Family Festival – with a number of fantastic activities for young people and their families.

From face painting, to tasty treats, and lots of opportunities for family activities, this is one of the most popular events in the Anglesey calendar. So we recommend you get there nice and early – preferably before it opens at 11am (until 3pm).

Thanks to the huge success of last year’s event, Anglesey will once again see hundreds of tourists and locals alike flock to our pear for a range of fantastic activities.

Activities and things to do

This June, families can expect to get stuck in with a range of opportunities for fun – such as:

  • Bicycle stunt show

  • Dog show

  • Dance workshops

  • Tudor display

  • Bear boxing workshops

  • Face painting

But if you’d prefer to kick back and relax in the sun too, then you’re just in luck. A number of Anglesey’s local food suppliers will be present at the event, showcasing the best in our tasty produce. And if last year is anything to go by, visitors will have a chance to catch up on their retail shopping too. We expect there to be plenty of stalls set up throughout the showground.

But more importantly, the festival will have several different tents set up across the event – offering great educational and entertainment options for young people, including:

  • Small Literature Tent

  • Pavilion Theatre

  • Culture Tent

  • Main Ring

  • Infant Tent

This really is a multi-faceted festival, and we expect there’ll be something for every type of visitor this 2015.

Anglesey’s Children and Family Festival 2015

At Silver Bay, one of our favourite seasonal events is the Children and Family Festival. Packed full of fun, creative, and exciting activities for visitors of all ages, we aren’t expected that this is one of the most popular events in the calendar.

And based on last year’s event – with a stunning show from the RAF over the showground – we are expecting big things in 2015 too.

If you would like to learn more about Anglesey’s Children and Family Festival, follow their official Twitter account to keep up to date with all the latest news.

Alternatively, share your thoughts @Silverbay_ and tell us all about your plans this summer! We are also available on Facebook.

Despite the luxurious nature of the lodges at Silver Bay we are fully aware that entertaining a family, especially at weekends and during school holidays can become expensive, and is often unnecessarily so. Anglesey and north Wales is a hotbed of inexpensive and brilliantly entertaining things to do. So, let’s keep the kids amused without breaking the bank!

Firstly, there’s no charge for our residents to enjoy a long day out at the private Silver Bay beach. Games can be played, sandcastles can be built, and swimming can be enjoyed. All of which pretty much guarantee that an exhausted child will sleep soundly throughout the following night. There’s also no charge for a day at The Spa where children can make use of the family friendly pool whilst you sit back and enjoy a coffee and a newspaper.

Alternatively, you might want to venture further afield without spending a fortune, which is completely understandable! Here are a few options for spending a day offsite and amidst everything that Anglesey has to offer.

Lligwy Beach

Rated on Trip Advisor as the number 1 attraction on the Island of Anglesey this beach is a delight. You can walk along the coast and take in the fabulous views; the beach is huge, spotless and dog (and child!) friendly. The toilets are immaculately clean and there’s a super little café where you can pick up a bacon butty or an ice cream. There’s lots of parking for your convenience, it’s easily accessible and entirely free!

Tacla Taid (Anglesey Transport and Agriculture Museum)

Child £2.50
Adult £4.50

This is the largest museum of its kind in Wales. You can take the kids for a glimpse of days gone by via more than 100 gleaming classic cars in perfect condition, all from the 1920s onwards. There are motorbikes, vans, military and agricultural vehicles that are often used in film and television. There’s a quaint café and tearoom for a bite to eat and an outdoor play area where the kids can burn some energy whilst you watch over them and relax with a coffee. The owners are also fantastic, enthusiastic and friendly. Tacla Taid is a great place to take the kids, especially on a rainy day and the entry price hopefully won’t break the bank.

Pili Palas Nature World

Child under three £free
Child age 3 – 16 £6.75
Adult £7.75
Reductions for families

A slightly pricier option, but there is SO much to do here that you’re looking at very tired kids following a full day out, which some would say is worth every penny! There are so many wonderful animals to enjoy, there are waterfalls and live butterflies flying all around. There’s a birdhouse and lots of reptiles you and the kids are welcome to hold during the animal handling sessions. There’s a bug zone and a tropical lair of tarantulas, scorpions and exotic toads. You can take a walk through the farmyard and see the goats and hens. It really is an animal lovers paradise. Afterwards you can explore the nature trail and let the kids enjoy the bouncy castle, indoor play area and adventure playground. This is place for children that is both educational and fun, yes it’s a bit more expensive, but we believe it’s worth every penny, plus there are reductions for families.

Foel Farm Park

Child under three £free
Child age 3 – 16 £5.95
Adult £6.95
Reductions for families

lamb on a farm silver bay holiday village anglesey

At Foel Farm Park, you pay once and then all the rides and attractions from there onwards are free of charge. The farm is a place where the whole family can experience a real working farm and everyone can meet, touch and feed the animals. You can enjoy tractor and trailer rides, quad bikes and pony rides. In spring and early summer the children can bottle feed the baby lambs. The Anglesey Chocolate Farm is also on the site where you can see chocolate being whipped up by the resident chocolatier. It would be almost rude not to treat yourself and the kids to one or two whilst you’re there!
