The Easter holidays may almost be over but we’re still feeling in that holiday mood from the success of our Easter activities. We want to thank everyone that visited Silver Bay during the holidays, it wouldn’t have been the same without you!

From scuba diving and lifeguarding to football and pilates, and not forgetting a whole selection of arts and crafts activities for the Busy Bayers, there really was something for everyone to enjoy over the holidays.

This year we changed things up slightly for the Silver Bay Easter egg hunt with people of all ages searching every nook and cranny of the park for codes to solve the final puzzle; it was great to see friends and families working together to find the codes and earn their Easter eggs.

Easter egg hunt at Silver Bay

After working up an appetite at the Easter egg hunt we served up a carvery with a selection of different meats and all the trimmings. We received some great feedback on the carvery and will be doing it again soon, keep an eye on our Facebook page for any updates.

Halfway through the holidays we welcomed prospective lodge owners to our Easter Open Day to experience Silver Bay for themselves, including our luxury lodges, facilities and beach. We hope to open our gates again soon so make sure to keep an eye out for our next email invite.

Do you feel like you need some extra rest and relaxation after the Easter holidays? Why not take advantage of our Spa Treatment of the Month? This month we’re offering ELEMIS Intensely Cleansing Salt Scrub for just £25. Call the spa on 01407 862049 to book.

We may be entering the final few days of our Easter activities but it won’t be long until the May half term where we’ll have a whole host of activities to keep the family occupied; look out for our activity newsletter, coming soon. If you’d like to find out more about how to become a lodge owner at Silver Bay or would like to arrange a visit you can request a callback from a member of our friendly team or view our online brochure.

Monday 17th – Friday 21st April

easter bunny anglesey north wales silver bay holiday village

Easter Monday is the perfect chance to catch up with any activities you’ve missed earlier in the week. Our cardio circuit (11:00am) and supervised gym sessions (3:00pm)  are back, and so are our dance (1:00pm) and bird feeder making activities (5:00pm) for the children.

Don’t head home on Tuesday the 18th, instead spend some time taking part in our metafit studio gym session (11:00am). Or if sweating over cardio isn’t your thing, then why not clear your mind and stretch those muscles with a pilates session at 6pm?

On Wednesday we’re heading back down under the water for an exciting scuba lesson (1:00pm), follow this with legs, bums and tums (6pm) in the studio. For the children, we’ll be taking the woods for some woodland activities (2:30pm), followed closely by more arts and crafts than you can shake a stick at starting at 5pm!

Thursday is the 20th of April, and sadly the Easter holidays will be winding down. However, don’t fear, we’re still here to keep you topped up with fun! We’ll be hosting Orienteering for the children between 1:00 and 2:00pm in the gym studio, and then it’s time to try your hand at salt dough modelling (12:30pm) or create something scrumptious during our baking activity between 2:30 and 4:30pm. Round it all off with seed bomb making (5:00pm) as we make it our aim to fill our site with awe-inspiring plants.

Friday the 21st of April is our final day of activities. Our adult only swim is on again between 09:30 and 10:30am, followed by kayaking between 1:00 and 2:00pm for those aged 7-11yrs. There’s also an extra session for those aged 11-16yrs between 2:00 and 3:00pm – so make sure you choose the right session for your age range!

The Top 5 Tours of Anglesey

easter-on-anglesey-silver-bay-holiday-village-1280x853.jpg

As we wave goodbye to winter, there’s a sense of optimism in the air as spring is on the horizon. Brightly-coloured daffodils are swaying in a warm breeze, bringing happiness to our gardens, and fluffy baby animals are taking their first steps into the world.

And with this magical time of year comes one very special holiday that young and old alike can enjoy – Easter. In Wales there are many magical traditions including Anglesey egg clapping, which would see little ones heading from farms and asking for eggs by beating percussion instruments and singing songs – a delightful sight indeed!

From indulging in creamy chocolate eggs to sitting down together as one big family for a tasty roast dinner, Easter is one of our favourite times of year. And best of all, there are an array of eggcellent activities (see what we did there…) taking place across Anglesey. Fancy hunting for chocolate eggs? Or perhaps you’d like to get involved with some Easter crafts? Below we’ve got the event for you!

Crafts and Easter Hunt at Beaumaris Castle

What would Easter be without an Easter egg hunt? Take your little ones along to Beaumaris castle and spend the day hunting for the Easter Bunny himself!

Like the cheeky bunny he is, he has left clues to his whereabouts – and it’s your job to find them and discover where he’s hiding. You might even win a chocolatey surprise at the end for all your hard work! But that isn’t where the fun stops.

There will also be crafts in abundance on Easter Sunday, and you’ll even get the chance to make an Easter mask. Plus, if you bring an old, clean sock you can also create a sock bunny to take away with you! It’s a great event to get those creative juices flowing and the ideal chance to have bucket-loads of fun.

Discover more here. The event will be taking place on the 16th of April. Tickets are £6.50 per adult and £4.20 per child, and there is also a special family ticket for £19.30 that admits two adults and up to three children.

Easter Lunch at The Deck House

The staple of any good Easter break is a delicious roast dinner, and where better to go than The Deck House at Silver Bay Holiday Village

Gather the family together and spend some quality time bonding over a luscious Sunday roast. There’s nothing quite as comforting as filling your boots with a well-cooked English dinner staple, and with our relaxed atmosphere and refined food you’ll be in for a treat.

As usual, we’ll be using the very best of local ingredients to craft a special roast dinner experience that lodge owners and Anglesey locals will adore. To find out more about our menu and book a table, click here or call us on 01407 860 860. We’ve also just launched our brand new spring menu!

The Great Cadbury’s Egg Hunt – Plas Newydd House and Gardens

easter on anglesey 2 silver bay holiday village north wales

Didn’t find enough chocolate at Beaumaris Castle? Well, don’t fear! Plas Newydd will also be hosting an egg-hunting event sponsored by none other than Cadbury’s themselves.

The Easter Bunny has visited Anglesey to spend some time with his dear friend, Red Squirrel. But sadly, he’s gone missing!

Hosted by the National Trust, the event will start at 11 am and finish at 3 pm and will be running between the 1st of April and the 23rd. There’s no need to book, and if you do find the Red Squirrel you can expect a yummy chocolate prize at the end.

To start the trail, head to the Cadbury’s tent, which is located adjacent to the house.

Medieval Easter Weekend – Beaumaris Castle

As well as hosting an exciting Easter egg hunt, Beaumaris Castle will also be educating their visitors over the Easter weekend with an extra-special medieval theme.

Visitors will get the chance to dive right into the heart of the medieval period as the staff recreate exactly what life was like back when the castle was first constructed.

Children can also partake in a fantastic Knight School and there will be even more arts and crafts, as well as a Birds of Prey demonstration, that the little ones will love.

To round off the day, head to the fight arena and cheer for your favourite knight as they battle for victory. It’ll be a visit to Beaumaris Castle you’ll never forget and one that the whole family will enjoy.

A family ticket costs £19.30 and admits two adults and up to three children under 16.

Anglesey Weather – Exploring The Seasons On Our Beautiful Island

20/May/2018
silver-bay-holiday-village-anglesey-easter-eggs-1280x866.jpg

Easter is almost upon us – and every year our lovely residents flock to Silver Bay to spend some time relaxing in their holiday homes.

We already have a great range of Easter activities planned including movie nights and baking classes – your little ones will have some great activities they can take part in during your break.

Yet one of the most fun things any child can do at Easter is to get creative in your holiday home! From making your own Easter eggs to decorating Easter cards, it’s the perfect time to get those fingers sticky, imaginations buzzing, and take the opportunity to create something amazing.

We’ve listed below five exciting ways you can get your little ones creative this holiday season, so enjoy!

1. Make The Most of The Silver Bay Activities!

We’ve already mentioned the fabulous activities taking place at Silver Bay this Easter, and we’ve got the full guide right here below!

silver bay holiday village easter schedule 2016

We hope you find something that your kids will enjoy on the list.

The Easter activities are especially fun and offer the chance to get creative! There’s an Easter themed crafts activity, as well as an Easter Disco. Make sure you create an Easter bonnet before you go so you can enter into the bonnet competition!

There’s also an Easter Egg hunt at 12 noon on Easter Sunday – laying the foundations for the perfect opportunity for all the family to get together for some Easter fun.

Remember, if you want to attend an activity with a star next to it then you need to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

It’s also important to note that the Wild Survivor activity costs £10 per child, and this also secures your child’s place.

2. Make Your Own Easter Eggs

Making your own Easter eggs is nowhere near as intimidating as it sounds. All it takes is a plastic mold that you can get online or from any good baking/kitchen shop, and a whole load of delicious chocolate.

The first thing you want to do is make sure your molds are super clean so that the chocolate looks as good as possible. Then all you need to do is melt the chocolate and pour a suitable amount of it into your mold – the amount will depend on the size of  it – and then you’ll need to tip the mold around to make sure every space is covered with a thick layer of chocolate.

All you need to do then is the other half of the egg, before placing it in the fridge for 10 minutes. Once they are solid, you’ll need to stick them together, and this can be done by heating the bits you want to join and melting them a little.

If you heat up a baking sheet in the oven and then melt the places where they will join, they will fuse together to create your very own Easter egg!

You can then decorate them with icing!

3. Design Your Own Easter Cards

A quick trip to a craft shop before your break will ensure you have everything you need to decorate some Easter cards with your little ones.

Stickers, glitter, glue, card and felt tips are a good starting point, but you can even incorporate fabrics and other decorative items if you so wish.

A lovely gesture to send to all the family, Grandparents will love them! And they keep your kids busy for a little while whilst you relax.

4. Decorate Your Holiday Home

Easter is the perfect opportunity to welcome spring into your holiday lodge. Easter decorations have become a ‘thing’ over the last few years with many major retailers selling Easter bunting, egg decorations to decorate trees, and even Easter pinatas for the little ones!

You can also add a homemade feel and display Easter pictures coloured in expertly by the kids, as well as painting your own little plastic or polystyrene Easter Eggs. If you want to do something extra special you could also create some paper mache eggs with balloons.

They’ll also look great outside your holiday lodge door when you welcome guests!

5. Make Easter Nest Cakes

If you fancy something a little simpler than Easter eggs, then you can also create Easter nest cakes with a really basic recipe of chocolate, Rice Krispies and Mini Eggs.

Melt the chocolate in a bowl over hot water and then mix in your Rice Krispies until they’re fully coated. Pack each of them into little cupcake cases and then pop three Mini Eggs on top to finish the look.

They then go in the fridge to set. They’re a really tasty treat to enjoy and require minimal effort in the baking department.

6. Make Easter Bunny Masks

If you want to create something your little ones can wear over the Easter break, why not consider making Easter Bunny masks?

These masks are really simple and easy to do. All you need to do is dig out those old paper plates you’ve been keeping under the cupboard from that BBQ last year (you know the ones!) and then take two to make each bunny.

One plate will form the face, and the other one you can use to cut out some ears. Take care with the scissors – and consider cutting them out for your little ones. Then stick them together tape or glue, before letting them go wild with their colouring utensils!

If you want to make the masks wearable you can also punch a hole on each side and knot two pieces of string at either end, thread one through each hole you’ve punched and then make sure they’re both long enough so that your children can wear it comfortable whilst it’s tied at the back of their head.

As many of our luxury home residents will be joining us over the Easter holidays we’re sure those with children will be participating in some of our own Silver Bay kids’ events around the Easter weekend; however there is still a wide variety of exciting, child-friendly Easter activities all over the island of Anglesey to enjoy!

Many of Anglesey’s attractions will be hosting egg hunts, such as the National Trust’s Plas Newydd. Children can participate in their annual egg hunt for £2 from the 3rd – 6th April between 11am and 3.30pm, and adults can enjoy the beautiful mansion and extensive gardens set on the shores of the Menai Strait. With options for a woodland and marine walk to explore, in addition to an adventure playground and tree house for the kids, Plas Newydd will keep everyone entertained on an Easter day out. Garden only tickets are £8.10 for adults and £4.10 for children over 5.

For children who are farm, butterfly or bug enthusiasts, Pili Palas Nature World near the Menai bridge is the place to be. Egg hunts will be taking place daily in in the weeks before and after Easter, between 10am and 5.30pm with prizes for lucky winners. There are also daily bush tucker trials and animal handling activities between 11am and 4pm, making this an ideal fun-filled day for children with an interest in wildlife. Adult entry is £7.95 and £7.25 for children aged 3-16.

Young wannabe farmers won’t want to miss out on Foel Farm park, where the whole family can experience a real working farm, with lots of opportunities for interaction with the animals in addition to tractor and trailer rides. For those who just can’t get enough of the Easter chocolate, Foel Farm even has a chocolate workshop for everyone to watch chocolates being made. Their annual Easter egg hunt takes place this year on the 5th April at 1pm; the likely presence of lambs and other baby animals will complete the Easter theme! Entry is £6.95 for adults and £5.95 for children aged 3+.

Those with an interest in history and medieval castles will want to get in on the activities at Beaumaris Castle, where the medieval household are winding back the clock to the times of Edward I from 3rd – 6th April. There is another Easter egg hunt taking place in the castle, 11am – 4pm on the 5th April; so if you fancy a day stepping back in time, with stunning views of Snowdonia and the Menai Straits, this is the castle for you. The egg trails on Easter Sunday are £5.25 for adults and £3.90 for under 16’s, and the medieval days are £4.50 for adults and £3.40 for under 16’s.

The beautiful town of Rhosneigr is only a 25 minute drive from Silver bay, home to The Oyster Catcher. This is a beautiful restaurant situated with an unobstructed view of the Irish sea, that is also hosting its very own Easter egg hunt which will be £1 starting 10.15am on 5th April; there will also be a best bonnet competition for kids to show off creative flair and optional fancy dress! So while the children are running around enjoying the trail, adults can sit down for a drink in one of the beach shacks overlooking the sea or experience a meal prepared by the cadets in the chef’s academy – a delicious feast guaranteed!

With the weather looking like rain will be holding off from the Rhoscolyn area during the Easter period, fingers crossed for some sun so everyone can take in some of the spring fresh air! However you choose to spend your Easter break, we wish you a happy Easter from all of us at Silver Bay!
