With warm beach weather approaching (we even had a mini heatwave over Easter!) and longer days just around the corner, summer is on the way here at Silver Bay Holiday Village.

Our calendar is jam-packed full with events that you and your loved ones won’t want to miss. And as well as making sure Silver Bayers have plenty to do, we’re also going to be digging deep for charity.

For a full run down, take a look below and pop these all important dates into your summer calendar of fun!

18th June – Snowdon Sunrise Charity Walk

sunset summer holidays silver bay holiday village

We always take great pride in doing our bit for local charities, which is why we’ve decided to get the Silver Bay team together and embark on the Snowdon Sunrise Charity Walk 2017.

Taking place on the 18th of June, all funds raised will go towards the all-important Wales Air Ambulances. And best of all, you can join us too! Just make sure you book via Breese Adventures.

The Wales Air Ambulance team will be trekking along with us, and we’ll be walking between 1am and 9am under the guide of the Anglesey moon, led by headtorch lights! It’s a magical walk and an experience that you’ll never forget. We hope to see you there!

If you can’t participate, but would like to donate, simply visit the GoFundMe page here.

3rd and 4th June – Menai Raft Race

As we’re an island, there are always lots of exciting water-based activities going on. From boat voyages to adrenaline-pumping sailing, if you’re a watersports enthusiast, you’ll love Anglesey.

This year, we’ve decided to get involved with local water sports activities ourselves, and for the first time ever will be taking part in the Menai Raft Race! This annual event is an Anglesey classic, and on the 3rd and 4th of June our Grounds Maintenance Team will be heading out on the water and racing locals who have endeavoured to build their best rafts!

If you’re interested in Raft Silver Bay, like our page on Facebook where you’ll find a collection of upcoming images full of all the latest updates. And best of all, this event also raises a lot of money for local causes – which makes the Menai Raft Race one of the most important events in the Anglesey calendar.

Summer 2017 – Date TBC – Guinness World Record Attempt

summer silver bay guinness world record

This summer we’ll be hoping to make Silver Bay a record-breaking holiday park – and we need your help! From gathering as many superheroes as we can on the beach at one time, to building the world’s highest stack of coins on a holiday park, we want to know which event you’d like to do the most – and we need your votes on social media.

We’re also looking for even more special ideas, so if you have something that you’d like to put on the table, perhaps the most amount of people snorkelling in wigs at once, or maybe the largest amount of sandcastles shaped like Disney characters on one beach, let us know right away on Facebook.

Our Guinness World Record Attempt is an event that we can’t wait to launch this summer when we welcome everyone back for six weeks of sun, fun and excitement. We’ll be posting more details soon about the attempt and when it will be taking place. Make sure you check back so that you don’t miss out!

Summer 2017 at Silver Bay Holiday Village

We hope you can make it to our events this summer, and if you don’t feel like taking part feel free to pop down and cheer us on! The team and our lodge owners will really appreciate your support.

There’s nothing we enjoy more than introducing more extraordinary properties to our breathtaking holiday park, which is why we’re proud to present the second article in our Luxury Lodge Spotlight, this time focusing on The Vista.

This ingenious piece of innovative architecture is one that not only provides a stunning sanctuary away from everyday life, it also offers up a tangible luxury that means you won’t want to leave. With the Vista you can even stargaze from your own bedroom.

So what are you waiting for? Step inside…

Living Space

A vista is defined as ‘a pleasing view’, and that’s precisely what this holiday home provides. Filled with an abundance of light that transposes into an airy feel, this spacious property has magnificent skylights installed, providing avenues of light no matter where you are.

Distressed wooden furniture features throughout the Vista, offering dining and coffee table focal points to be proud of. Both are places of beauty that are hungering for a family to gather around with a tasty dinner or a family movie.

The interior decorations truly are inspired, and the Vista’s living space benefits from tranquil, olive coloured walls matched alongside the light, wooden floors – which give this holiday home a true, bespoke quality.

It’s not hard to see why families fall for this home as soon as they lay eyes on it.

Kitchen & Dining

The Vista is famous for its open-plan living experience, providing a hub for friends and loved ones to gather for activities in the heart of their holiday home.

Complete with all the modern amenities, from cooker to American-style fridge, freezer, the Vista kitchen is nothing short of outstanding. Spotlights under the luxurious white kitchen cupboards deliver a modern ambiance while still setting a comfortable mood, and the centre kitchen island is the ideal place to cook together as a family unit.

The dining space of this luxury holiday lodge is situated down a step into the lower part of the open living space. The distressed oak offers a unique dining experience – a place that is relaxing and impression – and one where many happy memories will be made in the coming years.

The Vista’s interior is simply waiting for a family just like yours to inject love and companionship.

Bedrooms

For a holiday home to be truly exquisite and luxurious, the sleeping quarters need also provide a comfortable yet opulent place to rest your head – and the Vista does not disappoint.

Available with up to three bedrooms, the master bedroom comes with a magnificent ensuite, allowing the central bathroom to be exclusively for the children and visitors. Other bedrooms in the property come with two beds, yielding enough room for a family of four, five or six to holiday on the glorious Anglesey coast.

The spotlights and skylights that are favoured in the living space also appear in the bedrooms, allowing the property to flow. Distressed wooden features are also situated in the bedrooms, with the accent look appearing on bedside tables and cupboards – and storage space is in abundance for those families with lots of personal treasures.

Bathrooms

We’ve already touched upon the bathrooms, but it’s hard not to when they’re so breathtakingly beautiful.

The ensuite in the Vista lodge features a state-of-the-art toilet, sink and a curved shower cubicle – perfect for washing the sand out of your hair after visiting Silver Bay Beach. The main bathroom also boasts the same modern bathroom staples, and both are decorated in a beautiful, harmonising greys that add a sense of calm that ebbs and flows around the property.

When the children go to bed, treat yourself to a luxurious spa experience in the comfort of your own lodge.

Monday 17th – Friday 21st April

easter bunny anglesey north wales silver bay holiday village

Easter Monday is the perfect chance to catch up with any activities you’ve missed earlier in the week. Our cardio circuit (11:00am) and supervised gym sessions (3:00pm)  are back, and so are our dance (1:00pm) and bird feeder making activities (5:00pm) for the children.

Don’t head home on Tuesday the 18th, instead spend some time taking part in our metafit studio gym session (11:00am). Or if sweating over cardio isn’t your thing, then why not clear your mind and stretch those muscles with a pilates session at 6pm?

On Wednesday we’re heading back down under the water for an exciting scuba lesson (1:00pm), follow this with legs, bums and tums (6pm) in the studio. For the children, we’ll be taking the woods for some woodland activities (2:30pm), followed closely by more arts and crafts than you can shake a stick at starting at 5pm!

Thursday is the 20th of April, and sadly the Easter holidays will be winding down. However, don’t fear, we’re still here to keep you topped up with fun! We’ll be hosting Orienteering for the children between 1:00 and 2:00pm in the gym studio, and then it’s time to try your hand at salt dough modelling (12:30pm) or create something scrumptious during our baking activity between 2:30 and 4:30pm. Round it all off with seed bomb making (5:00pm) as we make it our aim to fill our site with awe-inspiring plants.

Friday the 21st of April is our final day of activities. Our adult only swim is on again between 09:30 and 10:30am, followed by kayaking between 1:00 and 2:00pm for those aged 7-11yrs. There’s also an extra session for those aged 11-16yrs between 2:00 and 3:00pm – so make sure you choose the right session for your age range!

Excellent Easter Activities to Enjoy on Anglesey

The Top 5 Tours of Anglesey

easter-on-anglesey-silver-bay-holiday-village-1280x853.jpg

As we wave goodbye to winter, there’s a sense of optimism in the air as spring is on the horizon. Brightly-coloured daffodils are swaying in a warm breeze, bringing happiness to our gardens, and fluffy baby animals are taking their first steps into the world.

And with this magical time of year comes one very special holiday that young and old alike can enjoy – Easter. In Wales there are many magical traditions including Anglesey egg clapping, which would see little ones heading from farms and asking for eggs by beating percussion instruments and singing songs – a delightful sight indeed!

From indulging in creamy chocolate eggs to sitting down together as one big family for a tasty roast dinner, Easter is one of our favourite times of year. And best of all, there are an array of eggcellent activities (see what we did there…) taking place across Anglesey. Fancy hunting for chocolate eggs? Or perhaps you’d like to get involved with some Easter crafts? Below we’ve got the event for you!

Crafts and Easter Hunt at Beaumaris Castle

What would Easter be without an Easter egg hunt? Take your little ones along to Beaumaris castle and spend the day hunting for the Easter Bunny himself!

Like the cheeky bunny he is, he has left clues to his whereabouts – and it’s your job to find them and discover where he’s hiding. You might even win a chocolatey surprise at the end for all your hard work! But that isn’t where the fun stops.

There will also be crafts in abundance on Easter Sunday, and you’ll even get the chance to make an Easter mask. Plus, if you bring an old, clean sock you can also create a sock bunny to take away with you! It’s a great event to get those creative juices flowing and the ideal chance to have bucket-loads of fun.

Discover more here. The event will be taking place on the 16th of April. Tickets are £6.50 per adult and £4.20 per child, and there is also a special family ticket for £19.30 that admits two adults and up to three children.

Easter Lunch at The Deck House

The staple of any good Easter break is a delicious roast dinner, and where better to go than The Deck House at Silver Bay Holiday Village

Gather the family together and spend some quality time bonding over a luscious Sunday roast. There’s nothing quite as comforting as filling your boots with a well-cooked English dinner staple, and with our relaxed atmosphere and refined food you’ll be in for a treat.

As usual, we’ll be using the very best of local ingredients to craft a special roast dinner experience that lodge owners and Anglesey locals will adore. To find out more about our menu and book a table, click here or call us on 01407 860 860. We’ve also just launched our brand new spring menu!

The Great Cadbury’s Egg Hunt – Plas Newydd House and Gardens

easter on anglesey 2 silver bay holiday village north wales

Didn’t find enough chocolate at Beaumaris Castle? Well, don’t fear! Plas Newydd will also be hosting an egg-hunting event sponsored by none other than Cadbury’s themselves.

The Easter Bunny has visited Anglesey to spend some time with his dear friend, Red Squirrel. But sadly, he’s gone missing!

Hosted by the National Trust, the event will start at 11 am and finish at 3 pm and will be running between the 1st of April and the 23rd. There’s no need to book, and if you do find the Red Squirrel you can expect a yummy chocolate prize at the end.

To start the trail, head to the Cadbury’s tent, which is located adjacent to the house.

Medieval Easter Weekend – Beaumaris Castle

As well as hosting an exciting Easter egg hunt, Beaumaris Castle will also be educating their visitors over the Easter weekend with an extra-special medieval theme.

Visitors will get the chance to dive right into the heart of the medieval period as the staff recreate exactly what life was like back when the castle was first constructed.

Children can also partake in a fantastic Knight School and there will be even more arts and crafts, as well as a Birds of Prey demonstration, that the little ones will love.

To round off the day, head to the fight arena and cheer for your favourite knight as they battle for victory. It’ll be a visit to Beaumaris Castle you’ll never forget and one that the whole family will enjoy.

A family ticket costs £19.30 and admits two adults and up to three children under 16.

Mains & Pizzas

burger at silver bay holiday village the deck house

If you’ve done your homework on The Deck House, then you’ll know we’re great believers in supporting local businesses – and why wouldn’t we be? Their quality is second to none, and from local Anglesey butcher to the artisan bakers on our island, we know we’re going to receive an exceptionally high standard of produce that feeds straight through into our sumptuous dishes.

Pizzas are one of those items, and are a staple point of our menu. Great for all ages and lunch or dinner, our classic Margarita is filled with gooey mozzarella and a fine tomato sauce.

Fancy something a little more daring? Opt for our Hot One and experience spicy ground beef, jalapenos, pepperoni and juicy onions. We serve vegetarian options on our pizzas too, so make sure you peruse the menu to find the perfect dish for your dietary needs.

Pizzas aside, we have a range of main courses that you’ll want to devour. Our Pie of the Day is a Deck House classic and changes dependent on the best local ingredients we have. This is served alongside chunky chips and fresh vegetables, offering a balanced, hearty meal.

Provided by local butchers, our Jones of Bodedern Gammon Steak and Jones of Holyhead Sirloin Steak are hard to refuse. Each dish is served with fluffy, golden chips and a range of veggies that’ll slice right through the rich meat – perfection on a plate.

Vegetarian

We believe vegetarian dishes are some of the tastiest around – providing you know how to do them right. Luckily for meat-avoiders we’re big fans of creating innovative vegetarian dishes that will make your dinner pop with flavour.

Our Vegetarian Special Curry is a lovely addition to your table and features seasonal veggies and a classic Indian poppadom, mango chutney and a choice of rice or chips. Or if you fancying bringing a piece of Italy into your Deck House dining experience, why not order the vegan-friendly Homemade Aubergine Meatballs? They’re served in a balsamic and basil sauce on a bed of supple linguini. You’ll feel like you’re in the heart of Rome with the sun on your shoulders as you dine on this Italian, vegan dish.

Children’s Menu

We like to make sure your little ones get some goodness in them with a meal at The Deck House, so we endeavour to do our best and serve up a balanced meal for children.

Beef burgers are a popular choice, and because they’re locally sourced and 100% beef, you can rest assured that you know exactly what your children are eating.

Because we know everyone’s tastes are different, we provide a varied menu for little ones that includes Southern Fried Chicken, Haddock Goujons and even Quorn and Bean Chilli Con Carne to cater to vegetarian children. Crafted by our chef talent, t, each dish is a song on the palate and is sure to keep them quiet (for a while at least!)

The Deck House Restaurant at Silver Bay Holiday Village

We’ve recently been awarded 5-stars on our hygiene rating here at The Deck House, and that’s because our quest for perfection goes beyond our dishes and towards the care of our kitchen overall. Meet-The-Team-Charlotte-The-Spa-at-Silver-Bay-min.jpg

The Spa at Silver Bay is a hub for relaxation, socialising, and a place where both lodge-owners and locals can switch off from the outside world.

Beyond the staple of the stunning 15.5 metre indoor pool, past the soothing bubbles of the warming jacuzzi and the comforting haze of the sauna and steam room, are the treatment rooms.

Delivered by our expert therapists, treatments include everything from manicures to Aromatherapy experiences. In fact, there’s something suited to every type of relaxation devotee, making it the perfect place to have some well-deserved ‘me’ time.

We have a highly-skilled team in our Spa, and Charlotte is our Senior Beauty Therapist (what she doesn’t know about Spa treatments isn’t worth knowing!) Below we’ve got an exclusive interview with her that you won’t want to miss.

Discussing everything from her top spa recommendations to an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming product of the month, Charlotte has provided us with an exciting insight into the Silver Bay Spa life.

Meet The Team - Charlotte - The Spa at Silver Bay

What is your favourite treatment that you offer at The Spa at Silver Bay?

“My favourite treatment of all time is definitely the Pro – Collagen Quartz Lift Facial, I feel amazing after it and so relaxed as you get a gorgeous hand and arm massage with it as well as a lovely scalp massage, plus my skin feels re-energised and a lot firmer.”

What treatment would you recommend for someone visiting The Spa for the first time?

“It all depends on what outcome the client would like to achieve after visiting The Spa and what kind of skin type they have. So, it would either be a full body massage or one of our ELEMIS facials.”

What made you want to become a Spa Practitioner?

“I enjoy making my clients happy and seeing results after each treatment, it’s very rewarding. And I just love my job in general.”

When is the best time to visit The Spa at Silver Bay?

“The best time to visit The Spa is in the summer when you can enjoy our beautiful views of Snowdonia while taking a dip in our swimming pool or whilst you’re in the gym or just having a coffee.”

How long do your treatments last? And what are the main benefits?

“Most of our treatments are an hour long and again it all depends on what treatment the client has had so it can be anything from relieving tension and those painful knots after a massage or it can be to achieve a youthful, less problematic looking skin.”

Meet The Team - Charlotte - The Spa at Silver Bay

Do you have any sneak-peak looks at upcoming products of the month?

“So one of our *PRODUCTS OF THE MONTH* that is coming up is Pro-Definition Eye And Lip Contour Cream or as we like to call it “Botox in a bottle”. we will have an excellent offer on this so keep your eyes on our Facebook page.”

How do you find working with ELEMIS and what are the benefits of using their products?

“I love working with ELEMIS and over my 11-years of been in the industry, ELEMIS has to be the best product I have worked with as it literally does what it says, also it is a UK brand which I love even more.

And the benefits of using ELEMIS is a smoother, younger, radiant looking skin. Most of the ELEMIS products are clinically proven to give you these results and also have the ELEMIS promise which is no parabens, no sodium Laureth sulphate – SLS or SLES, no DEA, no mineral oil, no artificial colours.”

If you could provide our readers with one tip when visiting The Spa, what would it be?

“Just sit back, relax and enjoy the views.”

What does 2017 hold for The Spa at Silver Bay? Are there any new developments in the pipeline to get excited about?

“We are going on more training with ELEMIS so we will be offering a lot more body treatments which will be launching around Easter time, it’s a very exciting time for us at The Spa.”

The weather on our island follows the path of quintessential British seasons. From the long, warm summers to snow coated winters, each season brings something new and fresh to the table – and we adore them all.

Below we’ve outlined the average temperatures you can expect during your holidays on the island, as well as some stunning photography captured during the seasons we love the most. We even discuss the wildlife that thrives, as well as the best seasonal events to mark on your calendar!

SPRING ON ANGLESEY

Spring is the beginning of something special, the time for fresh starts and beautiful, blooming flowers. Moreover, on Anglesey, our island is transformed into a natural paradise. Animals appear from their winter burrows, and the sense of new life and beginnings is everywhere you look.

Stretching between March, April and May, the temperature highs reach between 8, 11 and 13 degrees Celsius – perfect conditions for stepping outdoors and exploring the beautiful nature right on our doorstep. Daffodils will be blooming across the island during this time of year, as will breath-taking, brightly coloured tulips.

Spring also sees some magnificent events on the Isle. This year Mother’s Day will be falling on March 26th, and we’ll even be hosting a special Mother’s Day lunch at The Deck House.

Water wildlife is thriving in spring, and visitors to the island can expect to see dragonflies and butterflies fluttering across the picturesque, spring sky. Nesting colonies also appear on the coast of Anglesey, and are the perfect spot to witness a wide range of marine birds.

As far as springtime events on the island go, we welcome back the Farmer’s Market down by Menai Bridge on the third Sunday of every month. The Vintage Rally at the Anglesey Showground will also be coming back on the 20th-21st of May, so why not witness the rare and vintage motors under the glow of the spring sunshine?

SUMMER ON ANGLESEY

As the temperature rises and the days draw out longer, when summer arrives on the island, you can’t help but feel e Between June and August, visitors flock to Anglesey to make the most of our award-winning coastlines, and it’s the perfect opportunity to dive into new experiences on the sunny Isle.

As roses and wildflower meadows bloom across local gardens and heritage sites, and right here at Silver Bay, summer is when the most magical memories of the year are created.

Temperatures reach highs between 15 and 17 degrees coupled with the famous Anglesey island breeze. If you’re a water baby, you’ll discover an Anglesey summer is perfect for spending the day by (and in!) the ocean.

Dolphins appear on our coast in both spring and summer, and you can see them from the coast or take a lovely boat trip. One of the most popular providers of these trips are Seacoast Safaris, and although dolphin sightings can’t be promised, you’ll definitely be able to see some puffins over on Puffin Island.

As usual, we’ll be hosting our annual Summer Party here at Silver Bay Holiday Village, exclusive to holiday home owners. We’ll also be launching our Tough Beacher competition, our play on the ‘Tough Mudder’ races, as well as reopening our ‘Snack Shack’ down by the beach.

When exploring the island, summer activities to note include the ever-popular Anglesey County Show between the 15th and 16th of August which will feature a range of places to shop and view some of the finest livestock around. Also taking place is The Great Strait Raft Run on the 3rd and 4th of June, which is a rafting event held between the slade port of Felinheli and the Menai Bridge designed to raise money for charity.

AUTUMN ON ANGLESEY

When the air has a little bite and the wind whirls across an abundance of reds and golds, you know autumn has arrived. The sun settles lower in the sky casting a hazy glow over the island, we welcome the autumnal months with open arms onto Anglesey.

It’s such a special time of year for whimsical rambles through one of our many nature reserves, and it’s also a fantastic time of year to experience some of the most picturesque views as the island takes on a new, rustic look.

Red squirrels appear during these months, spreading from September to November, and temperatures start to drop again, reaching highs of only 13 and 10 degrees celsius.

Salmon also flourish during this time of year, and many can be seen jumping out of rivers all over Wales – and the Menai Straits are a good spot for salmon fishing. Seals can also be seen on the coast, so make sure you cast a watchful eye while on your coastal walks.

If you’re hoping to spot some beautiful flowers during autumn on the island, you’re in for a treat. Look out for some beautiful Dahlias – Anglesey Abbey tends to be full of these striking and colourful plants.

Yet perhaps one of the most spectacular sights are the amber, yellow and crimson leaves as they drift towards the ground, providing the forests and woodlands with a rich carpet of colour. Make sure you explore our woods on site and across the island and enjoy a shuffle over the crunching leaves – childhood nostalgia at its finest.

In early autumn, one of the island’s most famous marathons, The Ring o’ Fire will be taking place between the 1st and 3rd of September, making the most of the last of the summer sunshine. We’ll also be hosting our Halloween party at The Deck House yet again, so make sure you practice your pumpkin carving and pick out the spookiest outfit you can find!

WINTER ON ANGLESEY

The final, and perhaps one of the most beautiful seasons on the island – winter is not one to be missed.

Stretching between December and February, a chill settles into the air with temperatures reaching to a maximum of 7-8 degrees celsius. And when the skies are blue, but the cold is bracing, it can be one of the most refreshing times to explore the island – especially if you fancy heading to the coast and breathing away those winter cobwebs!

Stunning seabirds migrate during this period on the island, so watch out for them painting the sky with their beautiful formations. Porpoises can also sometimes be seen, having a year-round presence along the Welsh coast.

Flowers, snowdrops and winter aconites flourish during the colder months. As the trees grow bare these plants breath a sense of new beginnings yet to come, creating a very beautiful sight indeed – perfect for professional and amateur photographers alike.

Anglesey is always full to the brim with Christmas events during this time of year. From our Christmas and NYE parties at The Deck House to the Plas Newydd Christmas Fair and Beaumaris Victorian Christmas Markets – it’s a magnificent time to take a trip to our island and immerse yourself in your very own magical, winter escape.
