The Spa at Silver Bay is a hub for relaxation, socialising, and a place where both lodge-owners and locals can switch off from the outside world.

Beyond the staple of the stunning 15.5 metre indoor pool, past the soothing bubbles of the warming jacuzzi and the comforting haze of the sauna and steam room, are the treatment rooms.

Delivered by our expert therapists, treatments include everything from manicures to Aromatherapy experiences. In fact, there’s something suited to every type of relaxation devotee, making it the perfect place to have some well-deserved ‘me’ time.

We have a highly-skilled team in our Spa, and Charlotte is our Senior Beauty Therapist (what she doesn’t know about Spa treatments isn’t worth knowing!) Below we’ve got an exclusive interview with her that you won’t want to miss.

Discussing everything from her top spa recommendations to an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming product of the month, Charlotte has provided us with an exciting insight into the Silver Bay Spa life.

Meet The Team - Charlotte - The Spa at Silver Bay

What is your favourite treatment that you offer at The Spa at Silver Bay?

“My favourite treatment of all time is definitely the Pro – Collagen Quartz Lift Facial, I feel amazing after it and so relaxed as you get a gorgeous hand and arm massage with it as well as a lovely scalp massage, plus my skin feels re-energised and a lot firmer.”

What treatment would you recommend for someone visiting The Spa for the first time?

“It all depends on what outcome the client would like to achieve after visiting The Spa and what kind of skin type they have. So, it would either be a full body massage or one of our ELEMIS facials.”

What made you want to become a Spa Practitioner?

“I enjoy making my clients happy and seeing results after each treatment, it’s very rewarding. And I just love my job in general.”

When is the best time to visit The Spa at Silver Bay?

“The best time to visit The Spa is in the summer when you can enjoy our beautiful views of Snowdonia while taking a dip in our swimming pool or whilst you’re in the gym or just having a coffee.”

How long do your treatments last? And what are the main benefits?

“Most of our treatments are an hour long and again it all depends on what treatment the client has had so it can be anything from relieving tension and those painful knots after a massage or it can be to achieve a youthful, less problematic looking skin.”

Meet The Team - Charlotte - The Spa at Silver Bay

Do you have any sneak-peak looks at upcoming products of the month?

“So one of our *PRODUCTS OF THE MONTH* that is coming up is Pro-Definition Eye And Lip Contour Cream or as we like to call it “Botox in a bottle”. we will have an excellent offer on this so keep your eyes on our Facebook page.”

How do you find working with ELEMIS and what are the benefits of using their products?

“I love working with ELEMIS and over my 11-years of been in the industry, ELEMIS has to be the best product I have worked with as it literally does what it says, also it is a UK brand which I love even more.

And the benefits of using ELEMIS is a smoother, younger, radiant looking skin. Most of the ELEMIS products are clinically proven to give you these results and also have the ELEMIS promise which is no parabens, no sodium Laureth sulphate – SLS or SLES, no DEA, no mineral oil, no artificial colours.”

If you could provide our readers with one tip when visiting The Spa, what would it be?

“Just sit back, relax and enjoy the views.”

What does 2017 hold for The Spa at Silver Bay? Are there any new developments in the pipeline to get excited about?

“We are going on more training with ELEMIS so we will be offering a lot more body treatments which will be launching around Easter time, it’s a very exciting time for us at The Spa.”

In the first of our Luxury Lodge Spotlight series, we introduce The Oyster Catcher.

An integral part of the Silver Bay holiday-home experience is benefiting from the very best of opulent, modern architectural design.

We’re always on the lookout for eye-catching, luxurious holiday properties that our homeowners will adore, which is why we’re introducing four brand new lodges for 2017.

The Oyster Catcher, The Lookout, The Beachcomber and The Vista are our newest properties that have been chosen to compliment the bespoke collection of holiday homes available at our coastal retreat.

If you’ve been exploring the idea of buying a property here at Silver Bay, these lodges are sure to capture your attention. Featuring the very latest in modern lodge design, they’re a marvel to be delighted at.

The first property in this series that we’re going to get up, close and personal with is the captivating Oyster Catcher lodge.

Living Space

Open plan living is the epitome of the  Oyster Catcher. This monumental tribute to modern lodge design will take your breath away, and will capture the hearts of people in its presence.

Rugged timber walls matched perfectly with the white-washed decor, give the property a light and spacious feel, both welcoming and open at the same time.

The subtle green furnishings are cleverly complimented by the modern distressed wood that enables homeowners to feel close to nature – benefiting from the refreshing and comfortable aura of the outdoors.

It’s the perfect place to socialise with friends and family, as well as the ideal retreat to settle down with a good book or film. The Oyster Catcher will quickly become your holiday home away from home, feeling comfortable yet luxurious.

Kitchen & Dining

The chic kitchen very much tells tales of modern country decor. Fully-equipped and roomy, it’s the ideal place to cook up a storm after a day by the beach.

There’s cabinet space galore, providing room for all of your holiday home kitchen essentials, and it flows gracefully into the adjoining dining space – where many happy dinner time memories are just waiting to be made.

There’s even a stunning breakfast bar, the perfect place to fuel the little ones before sending them out on a Busy Bayers activity!

Bedrooms

The sandy laminated feature floor from the living room, kitchen and diner also flows further into the lodge. The master bedroom of this bespoke holiday lodge is brimming with grandeur, and the double bed covered with soft, sumptuous  sheets, is perfect for a relaxing night’s sleep.

The master also features a luxury ensuite where the rustic wooden tones of this property continue, offering a luxury log cabin feel to Oyster Catcher owners.

The second bedroom is a delight that the children will adore. The funky bunk beds are a great place for them to set up a den and live out their wildest playtimes, and they’ll while away the hours entertaining themselves in this versatile space that will keep everyone happy.

The Oyster Catcher is available in both two or three bedrooms, so rest assured there’ll be plenty of room for the entire family!

Bathrooms

The luxury that ebbs and flows across the property also blends effortlessly into the sanctuary of the bathroom. Feel like a king or queen as you relax in the free-standing bath tub, life’s problems drifting away with the calming steam and bath bubbles.

The contemporary grey wall colour scheme in this space is stylish and will evoke the same sense of relaxation and sophistication you would have visiting a private spa. The  bespoke bathroom suite of the Oyster Catcher will leave both friends and family undoubtedly envious.

You won’t want to leave your tub after spending some time in the Oyster Catcher bathroom.

Silver Bay Beach is the perfect place to do this on Anglesey. In fact, we’ve even won coast awards for it!

3. The Copper Kingdom

Anglesey has many staples that define the perfect island for all that it is, and one of those things in our Copper mines. The Copper Kingdom in Amlwch, Anglesey, is one of the biggest Copper mines in the world, and it’s a great place to explore… Dating back to the Bronze age, it’s a fantastic place to explore if you’re curious about history and how this mine contributed to the rise of the shipping industry on the island. And as you wander across the beautiful Parys Mountain, you’ll be able to bask in the beautiful colours of the landscape, as well as the open mine itself. Take the 400 steps to the island itself and enjoy the striking scenery whilst breathing in the fresh sea air. It really is something special. If you do decide to head down, make sure you check the weather prior to leaving. As it’s an island, it can sometimes be closed if the weather conditions aren’t right. The weather on our island follows the path of quintessential British seasons. From the long, warm summers to snow coated winters, each season brings something new and fresh to the table – and we adore them all.

Below we’ve outlined the average temperatures you can expect during your holidays on the island, as well as some stunning photography captured during the seasons we love the most. We even discuss the wildlife that thrives, as well as the best seasonal events to mark on your calendar!

SPRING ON ANGLESEY

Spring is the beginning of something special, the time for fresh starts and beautiful, blooming flowers. Moreover, on Anglesey, our island is transformed into a natural paradise. Animals appear from their winter burrows, and the sense of new life and beginnings is everywhere you look.

Stretching between March, April and May, the temperature highs reach between 8, 11 and 13 degrees Celsius – perfect conditions for stepping outdoors and exploring the beautiful nature right on our doorstep. Daffodils will be blooming across the island during this time of year, as will breath-taking, brightly coloured tulips.

Spring also sees some magnificent events on the Isle. This year Mother’s Day will be falling on March 26th, and we’ll even be hosting a special Mother’s Day lunch at The Deck House.

Water wildlife is thriving in spring, and visitors to the island can expect to see dragonflies and butterflies fluttering across the picturesque, spring sky. Nesting colonies also appear on the coast of Anglesey, and are the perfect spot to witness a wide range of marine birds.

As far as springtime events on the island go, we welcome back the Farmer’s Market down by Menai Bridge on the third Sunday of every month. The Vintage Rally at the Anglesey Showground will also be coming back on the 20th-21st of May, so why not witness the rare and vintage motors under the glow of the spring sunshine?

SUMMER ON ANGLESEY

As the temperature rises and the days draw out longer, when summer arrives on the island, you can’t help but feel e Between June and August, visitors flock to Anglesey to make the most of our award-winning coastlines, and it’s the perfect opportunity to dive into new experiences on the sunny Isle.

As roses and wildflower meadows bloom across local gardens and heritage sites, and right here at Silver Bay, summer is when the most magical memories of the year are created.

Temperatures reach highs between 15 and 17 degrees coupled with the famous Anglesey island breeze. If you’re a water baby, you’ll discover an Anglesey summer is perfect for spending the day by (and in!) the ocean.

Dolphins appear on our coast in both spring and summer, and you can see them from the coast or take a lovely boat trip. One of the most popular providers of these trips are Seacoast Safaris, and although dolphin sightings can’t be promised, you’ll definitely be able to see some puffins over on Puffin Island.

As usual, we’ll be hosting our annual Summer Party here at Silver Bay Holiday Village, exclusive to holiday home owners. We’ll also be launching our Tough Beacher competition, our play on the ‘Tough Mudder’ races, as well as reopening our ‘Snack Shack’ down by the beach.

When exploring the island, summer activities to note include the ever-popular Anglesey County Show between the 15th and 16th of August which will feature a range of places to shop and view some of the finest livestock around. Also taking place is The Great Strait Raft Run on the 3rd and 4th of June, which is a rafting event held between the slade port of Felinheli and the Menai Bridge designed to raise money for charity.

AUTUMN ON ANGLESEY

When the air has a little bite and the wind whirls across an abundance of reds and golds, you know autumn has arrived. The sun settles lower in the sky casting a hazy glow over the island, we welcome the autumnal months with open arms onto Anglesey.

It’s such a special time of year for whimsical rambles through one of our many nature reserves, and it’s also a fantastic time of year to experience some of the most picturesque views as the island takes on a new, rustic look.

Red squirrels appear during these months, spreading from September to November, and temperatures start to drop again, reaching highs of only 13 and 10 degrees celsius.

Salmon also flourish during this time of year, and many can be seen jumping out of rivers all over Wales – and the Menai Straits are a good spot for salmon fishing. Seals can also be seen on the coast, so make sure you cast a watchful eye while on your coastal walks.

If you’re hoping to spot some beautiful flowers during autumn on the island, you’re in for a treat. Look out for some beautiful Dahlias – Anglesey Abbey tends to be full of these striking and colourful plants.

Yet perhaps one of the most spectacular sights are the amber, yellow and crimson leaves as they drift towards the ground, providing the forests and woodlands with a rich carpet of colour. Make sure you explore our woods on site and across the island and enjoy a shuffle over the crunching leaves – childhood nostalgia at its finest.

In early autumn, one of the island’s most famous marathons, The Ring o’ Fire will be taking place between the 1st and 3rd of September, making the most of the last of the summer sunshine. We’ll also be hosting our Halloween party at The Deck House yet again, so make sure you practice your pumpkin carving and pick out the spookiest outfit you can find!

WINTER ON ANGLESEY

The final, and perhaps one of the most beautiful seasons on the island – winter is not one to be missed.

Stretching between December and February, a chill settles into the air with temperatures reaching to a maximum of 7-8 degrees celsius. And when the skies are blue, but the cold is bracing, it can be one of the most refreshing times to explore the island – especially if you fancy heading to the coast and breathing away those winter cobwebs!

Stunning seabirds migrate during this period on the island, so watch out for them painting the sky with their beautiful formations. Porpoises can also sometimes be seen, having a year-round presence along the Welsh coast.

Flowers, snowdrops and winter aconites flourish during the colder months. As the trees grow bare these plants breath a sense of new beginnings yet to come, creating a very beautiful sight indeed – perfect for professional and amateur photographers alike.

Anglesey is always full to the brim with Christmas events during this time of year. From our Christmas and NYE parties at The Deck House to the Plas Newydd Christmas Fair and Beaumaris Victorian Christmas Markets – it’s a magnificent time to take a trip to our island and immerse yourself in your very own magical, winter escape.

silver-bay-holiday-village-anglesey-couple-on-a-walk.jpg

A holiday away from reality can be one of the most romantic times of the year for couples, but for those with families, one-on-one time with your loved one can sometimes fall to the wayside.

However, this doesn’t have to be the case.

There are plenty of things couples can do whether they have families or not, that’ll make the trip away together extra special. So for some expert, romance holiday advice, you’ve come to the right place!

1. PLAN A DATE NIGHT

If one night is all you can spare, grab it with both hands. An evening together can go an incredibly long way when it comes to taking time out for one another.

This can be as in depth or as simple as you like. If all you want is a meal together with a chilled bottle of fine wine, there are few better places on the Isle of Anglesey than The Deck House. In fact, why not make it extra special andtake a look at our private dining options?

However, a date night doesn’t just have to be about having a meal. Heading out on the town for a few fruity cocktails or venturing on a beautiful head-clearing walk (we recommend a wander down Beaumaris Pier if you’re on our island), are both perfect choices. It’s all about doing something a little different in your schedule.

2. TAKE A TRIP TO THE SPA

Visiting the Spa is one of the most relaxing things a person to do. It’s a chance to let go of the things on your mind and focus on yourself, and what better person to do that with than the one you love?

Sometimes, you both need a break, and an afternoon at the spa can make you feel as though you’ve been away relaxing for days. A couples massage is the perfect way to take any strains and stresses out of your mind and your relationship, so why not treat yourselves? You can take a look at our full collection of spa treatments right here.

3. DO SOMETHING UNIQUE

Perhaps you and your loved one do go on dates a lot, but what you’re actually feeling tired with is the endless meals and drinks out.

Well, why not do something a little different?

Here at Silver Bay, we pride ourselves on offering the space and opportunities for you to do something unique. Head out together on a kayak, or perhaps spend some time beach combing and snorkelling together in our blue waters. Rekindle your sense of adventure together and do something worth remembering – it will revitalise your date life!

4. HEAD TO THE BEACH

When it comes to romantic settings, few places outdo th beach. There’s something relaxing about experiencing the end of the land as it merges into the sea. As you look out onto the horizon, your lover’s hand in your own, it can feel like anything is possible.

Discuss your future, hopes and dreams and you’ll find that you’re closer than ever before. And remember, you don’t need to escape to faraway shores to discover a beautiful coast. Our Silver Bay Beach is both awe-inspiring and award-winning, making it the perfect date spot.

5. STAY IN

Going on a date by default usually involves going out. But have you and your loved one ever thought about bringing the date inside? Whether you’re staying in one of our stunning lodges, or at home, why not nip to the corner shop for a bottle of bubbly? Perhaps pick up a few cheeses and Italian meats, matched perfectly with a thick, crusty bread.

Turn on the radio or put some songs on your phone, light some candles and then have a picnic in your own quarters. There’s nothing more intimate when it’s just the two of you by candle light.

6. MAKE IT A DOUBLE DATE

Sometimes it can be hard to head out on a date if you haven’t been alone together for a while, so there is another avenue that you can try to get back into the swing of things.

Double dates are usually something enjoyed by teenagers and young adults, but double dates can actually be a very clever way to spend time with friends and your loved one! With busy lives and children, this is a great opportunity to reconnect with your chums and there is sure to be fun and endless conversation between all partners. Why not even make it a triple date? A group night out at the Deck House is guaranteed fun – and who knows, with warm and welcoming Silver Bay community, you’re likely to even make new friends along the way! Go on, get social!

7. RENEW YOUR VOWS

For an extra special holiday to remember, why not renew your vows?

It’s the perfect way for any loved-up married couple to mark a defining point in their relationship, all the while paying tribute to your unwavering feelings for one another. It can be extravagant or as subtle as your like, with as many or as few guests as you like, too.

Your relationship will feel brand new as your pledge your love for one another once more, so why not start planning right away?

8. PRETEND IT’S YOUR FIRST DATE AGAIN

For our last romantic suggestion, we thought we’d suggest something a little different. Rekindling romance can be a tiring task if you have been together for a long time, so why not do something you’ve not done for a long time? Go on a ‘first date’!

Have your partner turn up to the bar or restaurant first, with you joining a few minutes later. Assume pretend names if you like and spend some time getting to know each other again. It might feel a bit silly at first, and even if it isn’t something you can take series, nothing fuels love quicker than laughter.

BE MORE ROMANTIC AT SILVER BAY HOLIDAY VILLAGE

If you want to reconnect and dedicate time to one another throughout the year, then why not considering investing in a holiday property? Our luxury lodges on Anglesey are the perfect place to spend holidays in the sun amongst some of the most beautiful scenes in the UK.

There’s nothing quite like visiting the Spa at Silver Bay to escape from the whirlwind of everyday life.

Our spa is open to both lodge owners and country club members, and the Spa at Silver Bay will provide you with the opportunity to find yourself through relaxation and peaceful serenity.

Below we’ve explored just a few of our Spa highlights, so if you’ve been looking a calming space on the Isle of Anglesey, you’re in for a treat.

OUR POOL

A standout feature of our Spa is, of course, our pool. Coming in at 15.5 metres longs, these tranquil waters offer the chance to swim, relax and if you want to, just float. There’s even a special children’s splash area at the side to encourage a more relaxed swimming environment for adults.

No matter what the weather, our pool is there to provide you with a water sanctuary to back crawl, front crawl, maybe even doggy paddle – however you swim and get those muscles moving, there’ll be a home for it in our pool.

And of course, swimming has a variety of benefits on the body and mind. According to Coach Magazine, water is 12 times denser than air, so the resistance is great for muscle toning. As well as this, the NHS claim that swimming can ‘reduce the risk of chronic illnesses […] boost your mood and keep your weight under control’ – meaning that some time in the pool has the ability to alter multiple aspects of your life for the better.

As the bubbles float around you and the warm, soothing waters banish any unwanted worries, your time in the jacuzzi at our spa is well spent. And if the hot bath-like experience isn’t for you, we also have a sauna and a steam room.

Known for their many skin and health benefits, these spa staples allow you to shut out the world and become one with the heat as it ripples softly along your skin.

Jacuzzis are favoured for their ability to ease muscle pain, reduce stress and also improve circulation according tolivestrong.com, who also discuss the ever-popular saunas stating that the ‘effect on the body is similar to doing mild exercise’ – as well as also improving circulation.

Finally, a steam room is also extremely beneficial on the body and mind. Health Fitness Revolution discuss this on their website, claiming that they relieve tension, reduce stress, clear your skin and much more.

AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy is a word we’re likely all familiar, but some still people aren’t quite sure what it exactly is – and that’s okay. Focussing on naturally extracted oils, this therapy type helps to promote a healthy mind and body.

Oils are used to give you a relaxing massage, and the therapy is also sometimes used to treat anxiety and depression according to bupa.co.uk. So for a relaxing afternoon that’s going to improve your state of mind, an Aromatherapy treatment could be the perfect choice for you.

SWEDISH BODY MASSAGE

Few do massages as well as the Swedish, so it’s no surprise that these amazing treatments are popular across the world. Used to relax the entire body, Swedish Massages are the perfect massage for first timers at the Spa, and tend to be suited to everyone. It’s up to you to let your therapist know the intensity you’d like during the treatment, they can be both rough or soft, making it easy to enjoy a massage experience suited to your taste.

There are a range of massage techniques used, with Effleurage being the one favoured with according to treatwell.com. This will see your massage therapist use their hands to rub your muscles with the aim to push blood in the direction of your heart. You can also point our problem areas with aches and pains if you’d like your therapist to focus on a certain area where you’ve been having issues.

Our Swedish treatments tend to last 55 minutes. However, we also offer a back, neck and shoulder package that lasts 25 minute. Treatwell.com also claim that this is one the most popular massage options due to the fact that people tend to be tight in these areas after sitting at a computer all day.

Wistful sandy shoreline and sapphire waters, it could only be Silver Bay Beach. Located on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales, this coastal haven is a sanctuary for families seeking a taste of sea air on UK shores.

Just a short five-minute walk from our award-winning holiday park, Silver Bay Beach is the perfect place to take a romantic walk or have a day of adventure riding the waves in your boat. There really is something for everyone to do. The beach is also close by to RAF Valley, providing the perfect opportunity for plane enthusiasts to witness the Red Arrows in action. Every year a range of events are held on the beach. From the annual fishing competition to the Beach Mudder race, Silver Bay beach is full of life yet spacious enough to feel secluded as you relax.

As well as this, the beach also has a rich history including the mysterious message in a bottle that washed up all the way from Xiamen in China.

Who knows what you’ll discover on a visit to our sandy hideaway? Our beach is also home to plentiful wildlife.

It’s not uncommon to spot a range of aquatic animals swimming in the waters including dolphins, and smaller animals such as frogs. The sky is also awash with beautiful animals including butterflies, dragonflies, and damselflies – so there’s always something alluring to witness.

Our coast is also one of the greenest in the country, and we do our best to make sure it’s kept clean and is also well-tended to. In fact, we’ve been doing so well that we’ve been awarded a Green Coast Award!

This prestigious body recognises the best, and greenest, costs around the UK, and we’re honoured to call our tropical heaven a part of it.=As well as admiring our stunning nature, there’s also plenty of natural activities you can be a part of on Silver Bay Beach.

There’s little more satisfying than an afternoon spent rock pooling or beach combing, discovering shells, beautiful stones and much more. We also host an array of children’s club activities that include snorkelling, coasteering, and beach safety, as well as Wild Survivors Club where children can learn everything they need to know about rustic life outdoors.=It’s not only humans who are welcome on our beach, so too are man’s best friend! Dogs love Silver Bay Beach just as much as any human, and both man and dog can spend hours wandering this luxury coast with the sand between their toes.

And it’s not hard to find inspiration on our beach, especially if you’re a creative. Whatever your medium, you’ll be sure to find inspiration on our shores. Alice White is just one artist who has already had her creative soul captivated by the sights of our coast.

Over the summer we host a range of beach activities. Alongside our Beach Mudder race, lodge owners will also get access to our annual Sandcastle building competition as well as the chance to purchase tasty snacks from our very own Tiki Shack.

A day at Silver Bay Beach is all about bonding and coming together with both family and friends to create a community. Be it spring, summer, autumn or winter, there’s always someone on our beach to chat with, new friends to make. And it makes for a very special place to live out some of the best days of your family life.Silver Bay Beach isn’t just all about the sand and water, there is also woodland nearby, filled with luscious green trees and places to explore. In fact, a visit to the beach at Silver Bay isn’t complete without a ramble through the woodlands, so don’t miss out.

As well as being the proud owners of a Green Coast Award, we were also presented with a David Bellamy Conservation Award in late 2016.

This award is presented to holiday villages in the UK that have taken great care to create a sustainable environment and enhance and protect nature in Britain. We’ve planted trees, created a wildflower meadow and much more. You can read all about it here. Watersports are also a strong part of Silver Bay Beach life. From canoeing and kayaking to speed boats, everyone is welcome on our waters as long as they practice care and consideration for others. We also have a handy boat park close so that lodge owners can store their vessels with ease.

Furthermore, exploring our beach is only the beginning of the Silver Bay beach experience. There are plenty of wonderful walks to be had around Anglesey that are close by. The Silver Bay woodland lead walkers across to Trearddur Bay, another beautiful part of Anglesey all visitors should have the chance to witness. Staying safe on the beach is all about looking out for one another and knowing your limits. The ocean can be a dangerous place and should be respected. This means not swimming out of your depth, swimming alone, or going too far out. As well as this, people should take extra care to not leave things lying about on the beach. These can become hazards if someone were to trip over them, and that’s without mentioning that our furry, four-legged friends that could also potentially swallow something harmful!

If you’d like to relax on Silver Bay beach with your loved ones, then perhaps it’s time you considering lodge ownership at Silver Bay holiday village. New-Years-Eve-Blog-header-image-2016-and-2017-1280x960.jpeg

On the 31st of December, The Deck House was transformed into a glamorous speakeasy, brimming with alluring 1920s chic ready to bring in the new year!

It was a lively night full of excitement and celebration, the atmosphere was electric – as was the fancy dress effort from every single lodge-owner here at Silver Bay Holiday Village. The party was kicked off by a stand-out clown who awed and inspired children and adults alike with his magic – he even had a live, fluffy rabbit with him (much to the delight of our party goers)!

After that, dinner was served and featured a range of delectable treats prepared by our amazing chefs, and once stomachs were full, The Runaway Babies made their much-anticipated return and took to The Deck House stage.

The last evening of 2016 was danced away and the new year was welcomed in with warmth and cheer – setting the tone for what will be a wonderful year here at Silver Bay Holiday Village.

It was a delight to host such a great night had by all, and we can’t wait to do it again with our annual summer party later on this year!

Below you’ll find a video of the evening’s antics. Why not see if you and your loved ones made it below? There were some fantastic costumes on the night that deserve to be appreciated time and time again.

If you’d like to find out more about life at Silver Bay Holiday Village and how you could become the owner of your very own haven on Anglesey, call Jamie Hughes, General Manager, today on 01407 860 860. You can also view our free eBrochure here.

Silver-Bay-Holiday-Village-Taster-Weekend-Sian-Ediss.png

We invited Sian and her family for a taster weekend at Silver Bay and Sian documented her stay. Here’s her round-up of her Silver Bay experience. If you’re a prospective owner, it’s well worth a read…

Silver Bay Holiday Village was recommended to us by several friends – we were looking for a UK weekend break close to home in Manchester, where we could combine a bit of luxury with beautiful surroundings, activities and relaxation. I checked out the Silver Bay website and was immediately drawn to the stunning beauty of Anglesey, and the impressive look and layout of Silver Bay

Sian Ediss and her family on a taster weekend

Silver Bay offer a range of luxury lodge accommodation for ownership all within its beautiful location, and we were lucky enough to be offered a ‘taster weekend’, something which is available to all prospective lodge owners. The award-winning holiday village has numerous facilities including The Deck House restaurant, bar and lounge, ‘Busy Bayers’ children’s club and adventure play park, a secluded forest, beach and boat park, leisure complex including fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room and even a beauty salon.

We arrived at the tail-end of the autumn half-term holidays and there were still plenty of families enjoying their break. I was really impressed by the volume of activities on offer for children at the ‘Busy Bayers Club’. Activities range from creative tasks such as pottery painting, to outdoors activities such as ‘Wild Survivors’ coast and forest club and sports such as kayaking, water polo and ‘Try Scuba’. I also thought it was great that there was children’s entertainment every evening such as Movie Night and quizzes – perfect for when the grown-ups want to relax in The Deck House while children hang out in the nearby Busy Bayers area.

Luxurious Accommodation

There were three of us (myself, my boyfriend and my mum) and our accommodation was lovely. Our luxury lodge had 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and living room. All the lodges at Silver Bay also have central heating which we were hugely grateful for in the midst of November. Our comfortable dwelling was more than big enough for the 3 of us, with great-sized rooms, and our own outside area. If the weather had been warmer, we would have thoroughly enjoyed the outside decking and seating, but we only used this for a rather bracing viewpoint for Bonfire Night fireworks. There were beautiful views from our lodge spanning across the holiday village. We could see all around us the beautiful environment – lush greenery, wildlife, and rolling hills in the distance. Our lodge didn’t overlook the private beach, but we were less than 5-minutes away for brisk morning walks along the coast.

Award-Winning Grounds and Secluded Beach

On our first day, after a short 2.5-hour drive and a shop at the local supermarket,  we were there for 12.30pm. We unloaded the car and set-up our home for the next four days and then wrapped up and headed out for an explore. Silver Bay has recently won a Gold Standard David Bellamy Award for its contribution and preservation to the park’s wildlife. The love and care that the people put into the grounds and holiday park are clear to see. There were recently planted shrubs and trees around the children’s adventure play park area (some planted by the ‘Busy Bayers’ themselves!) and there was not a spot of litter in sight.

The secluded Green Coast Award-Winning beach is a sight to behold. The beautiful white sands are magnificently set against the backdrop of the Snowdonia mountains. The brisk November waves crashing on the sand and salty sea breeze made us feel a million miles away from the racing pace of Manchester, and we instantly felt a sense of relaxation and ease. We strolled along the coast and explored the rock pools and collected a few shells before we continued our adventure up to Silver Bay’s woodland and followed the path over some fields and back to the park. It was a lovely few hours to work up an appetite for an early dinner we planned in The Deck House.

The Deck House Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge

The Deck House Restaurant

After a leisurely couple of hours back at the lodge, we wandered over to The Deck House for 6 pm. We had heard wonderful reviews about Lee the Head Chef and his passion for locally sourced ingredients so we were very excited to sample The Deck House winter menu for ourselves. We were greeted by huge smiles from the waiting on team and were directed to our table for 3 next to the bi-fold windows. Although it was dark, it was still lovely to look out over flickering lights and the nightscape across the holiday park. The atmosphere in The Deck House was homely and comfortable. A few families with children were wrapping up their evening meals, and others were arriving in groups to settle in for the eve. There was even a section in the lounge where football fans could watch the Man Utd match; this was far enough away so not to disturb the ambience of the dining area but close enough so families felt all under one roof.

Andrew dining at the deck house

After much deliberation and pondering, we ordered our starters, lamb koftas (x2) and mushroom and stilton melt and then waited in anticipation for our main course of steak, chips and all the trimmings (x2) and a generous fish and chips – perfect fodder after our brisk walk earlier.

The service was prompt and caring, and every measure was taken to ensure we were well fed, watered and comfortable. We were too full for pudding, but the lovely waitress insisted that we tried the homemade chocolate brownie and icecream and we weren’t disappointed!

We chatted away for a while amongst ourselves and with some seasoned ‘Silver Bayers’ and enjoyed a few more rounds of drinks before calling it a night – we had a busy day in store for day 2 after all!

The Spa and Beauty at Silver Bay

The jacuzzi and pool at Silver Bay

After a deep sleep, we were set for a morning of relaxation and beautify-ing at the Spa at Silver Bay. We’d booked our appointments beforehand with team leader, Charlotte. Charlotte was excellent when advising on recommended treatments for all three of us, and our needs were carefully assessed beforehand.

Andrew and myself were set up on the couple’s therapy room, and my mum had a room to herself, each of us had our own personal therapist who delivered the expert treatments. The Spa at Silver Bay is an advocate for ELEMIS products. ELEMIS therapists are renowned for harnessing the power of nature and science to perform treatments that genuinely transform your skin and enhance wellbeing. The experience was exceptional, and we were very impressed with the physical and mental improvement after just 1.5-hours of care.

I requested the Swedish back, neck, and shoulder massage (£30, 25 minutes) and the Pro-Radiance Superfood facial (£60, 1 hour). Soothing music and aromatherapy filled the treatment room, and we began with the facial. Rich in superfoods, vitamins and minerals, the Pro-Radiance facial revealed a glow to rival a week in St. Tropez! The massage followed and melted my aches and tensions away. I spend most of my time at a computer, and this has resulted in tension in my neck and shoulders. Charlotte was quick to discover this and worked her magic to erase what felt like a lifetime of tightness. I felt like a floaty, floppy, ball of happiness after my treatments and I can’t thank Charlotte and the team enough for their expertise and warm welcome.

Andrew enjoyed the Men’s High-Performance Skin Energiser facial (£60, 1 hour) and discovered the relaxation and decadence of beauty treatments. Having never experienced this kind of treatment before, he was quietly happy that we were in the couple’s room together, but he was soon to forget I was there as he floated away in a sea of calm. My mum (who has had a lifelong love for beauty treatments) had the Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Facial and the Full-Body Aromatherapy Massage (£50, 55 minutes). This bespoke treatment harnessed the wellness benefits of aromatherapy as well as tailored concentration on the body’s most needed areas for attention. My mum was elated after both treatments – we all were – as you can see from the cheeky post-treatment selfie below…

Exploring Anglesey

The weekend was a cultural adventure with visits to South Stack RSPB reserve and also chasing the sunset along the coast. We lunched at the Sea Shanty Cafe on Trearddur Bay and travelled up to the surfer town, Rhosneigr, for Anglesey’s most-renowned fish and chips at Scarlett’s Fish and Chip Bar – we weren’t disappointed! Anglesey is an island that holds a special place in the hearts of those who have experienced it. Filled with charm, history and a unique blend of clear, beautiful coast and lush rolling hills and countryside, Anglesey is a UK staycation destination second to none.

Whether you’re a family with young children, a couple looking for a romantic escape, or a group of friends or family, I would wholeheartedly recommend that you explore this retreat on your doorstep. Being just over 2-hours from most hubs in the North West makes Anglesey an easy and quick retreat. If you’re searching for an ideal base, look no further than Silver Bay Holiday Village.

Escape to Silver Bay Holiday Village

All in all, I believe that Silver Bay is the ultimate UK holiday destination – because it’s situated on the glorious Isle of Anglesey, because the activities are plentiful, the facilities are excellent, and you have so much beautiful outdoors to explore. By the end of our stay, we felt revived and happy in the fact that we had an unforgettable experience that we’ll reminisce over for many years to come.

The Silver Bay team are really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. A special thank you to Leah the manager at The Deck House, Charlotte in the Spa, Heidi and the reception team and park managers Jamie and Chris for the warmest of welcomes.

If you’re searching for a perfect UK family escape, look no further than Silver Bay.
