We think we’ve found a true foodies’ delight and it doesn’t involve Michelin stars, travelling to London or the fields of France – it’s a short distance away from Silver Bay, in an area with outstanding local produce.     Silver Bay is delighted to announce a partnership with Bodnant Welsh Food Centre.

The Bodnant Welsh Food Centre is located at Furnace Farm, within the scenic surroundings of the Conwy Valley. The 18th century farm building now houses one of the most picturesque tea rooms in Wales with views over the Conwy Estuary and the Carneddau Hills. Passionate about traditional Welsh cuisine, Bodnant Welsh Food offers produce from its own estate and from carefully selected local producers, including milk from the farm across the river.

A farm shop, tea room, beekeeping centre, restaurant, wine shop and cookery school – Bodnant Welsh Food has fingers in all the homemade pies. The award-winning shop houses a butchers, bakers, dairy and a delicatessen too.

The meat from the butchers is all locally sourced and developed on site by Bodnant’s experienced butchers into a variety of award-winning flavours such as Bodnant lamb cushions and the delicious pork & pear burgers. If you’re stuck for ideas or need advice on the best cut for your dish, the experts are at the ready to share their knowledge and suggestions to ensure you get the most from your selection.

Elsewhere, the bakery produces all of the bread, scones and cakes used in both the restaurant and tea room. More than twelve types of bread are baked every day, from traditional loaves to the unique flavour of Furnance Farm Honey and Spelt. Of course, no Welsh bakery would be complete without a fresh supply of Welsh cakes, a tasty treat and the perfect partner to Bondant’s butter, expertly churned by head of dairy, Aled Rowlands. In addition, the dairy herd seen grazing nearby in the Conwy Valley supply milk for creams, ice creams and cheese, including a revival of a 300 year old local specialty – Aberwen Cheese – which is available to try in the shop.

After a visit to the centre last week, we couldn’t be happier to partner with this Welsh food institution. From Summer 2015, Silver Bay will be stocking produce from Bodnant Farm for our lodge and caravan owners to enjoy. We’ve listened carefully to your feedback and know the importance of having fresh, delicious food supplies on site at Silver Bay. Instead of driving out to pick up your amenities or stopping off at a supermarket on the way, all your essentials will be here with quality and taste guaranteed.

Whether planning a BBQ with your Silver Bay friends or stocking up on supplies for a delicious breakfast, our selected produce will be available to purchase from the cafe area in our Leisure Complex. And whatsmore, the lovely folks at Bodnant Farm will be keeping our fridges freshly replenished to keep up with expected demand.

Watch this space for updates on the launch. We also have an egg-citing announcement coming soon. Thank you, Bodnant Farm, for your warm welcome – we’re over the moon with the shape of tastes to come!
