With the glorious Welsh summertime comes a plethora of exciting food festivals here in North Wales. Whether you fancy indulging your sweet tooth in local honey, or are perhaps hankering to spend a weekend camping and tasting local craft ales, we’ve got the food festival for you in this very blog!

  1. The Beaumaris Food Festival

A classic that everyone loves on Anglesey, the Beaumaris Food Festival is back for 2017. Taking place on the 2nd and 3rd of September, there’ll be an array of exciting stalls that’ll leave you desperate to start munching!

Last year, a range of classic Anglesey businesses flocked to the event. Bucket loads of sumptuous fudge, delightful olives, tasty cheeses and fluffy scones are just a few of the key things that visitors enjoyed in 2016.

Although the 2017 stall guide is yet to be released, we can’t wait to see what comes up. It promises to be a fabulous weekend where you can fill your boots with some of the tastiest foods on our island!

  1. Conwy Honey Fair

We know how important bees, and honey, are at the moment. As a species whose existence has been threatened, we’ve endeavoured to do our best to support the local honey bees here at Silver Bay. We a visit from some beekeepers over the May half-term, and they helped us to build homes for our fuzzy friends that will ensure they have a safe place to live and thrive.

It’s always good to know that these marvellous workers are being looked after, and heading down to the Conwy Honey Fair is a great place to be if you wish to sample the delights of all the tiny winged creatures have to offer.

The Conwy Honey Fair is one of the oldest food fairs located in North Wales, and, as you might have guessed from the name, the festival will be taking place in the beautiful Conwy. Of course, you can expect endless honey at the festival, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Lots of locally sourced crafts and products will also be on offer to purchase, making this festival a real delight.

Taking place in September 2017, the official dates are yet to be confirmed. Make sure you keep checking their website for more information.

  1. Anglesey Beer Festival

Although not necessarily a food festival, the Anglesey Beer Festival is a must-do for those with a taste for great ale in the area! Again, this festival is taking place in September, and it’s spread across two delightful, beer-loving days!

You can even camp out, if you so wish, which will ensure you avoid the issue of who’s driving, and you’ll get the chance to experience lots of local craft beers that you’re sure to love. Because this event is all about raising money too, you’ll get to contribute to some incredibly worthy causes – everyone wins!

Finally, there are also local bands performing that will fill the atmosphere with excitement and life. It’s a lovely festival, perfect for adult groups, that will make you want to come back again next year. Keep an eye out for the official date announcement.

  1. Anglesey Farmers Market

Finally, our last festival for you to enjoy is the Anglesey Farmers Market. The markets take place once every month on the third Saturday, and you can catch it on the 15th of July or the 19th of August.

Specialising in the very best in local Anglesey produce, the farmers market is always a delight to explore. Held in David Hughes School, Menai Bridge, there are lots of freshly baked goods, local produce, and even a range of fresh crab that’s caught along our very coast. Of course, there’s also tasty meats on offer including Guinea fowl and Welsh Black beef. In short, there’s so much on offer that you’ll struggle to decide what to buy. Don’t worry, you can always come back next month to try some more delightful food.

Stalls often give out free tasting samples too, so don’t miss out on this year-round market that’ll knock your foodie socks off!

Of course, Anglesey is home to plenty of tasty restaurants – and one of those is our very own Deck House. So, if after a long day of exploring the food festivals, you fancy kicking back and letting someone else do the cooking for a change, you know where to go! A guest favourite that people enjoy time and time again is our Jones of Holyhead steak! Yum!
