What an incredible summer it’s been. From our annual fishing competition to our owner’s summer party, the fun hasn’t stopped!
Sadly, we’re waving goodbye to the warmer months now, but before we do we thought we’d revisit the very best of the best of summer 2017.
Keep an eye out – you might even make an appearance!
The Owner’s Summer Party
Right at the beginning of summer we hosted our annual owner’s party in The Deck House! The Runaway Babies band made a magnificent return, and everyone danced the night away with friends and family in abundance.
A taste bud-tingling buffet was put on by the magnificent chefs, and all of the staff involved we’re on top form, ensuring a brilliant night was had by all.
Mr Trix the clown even made an appearance, much to the delight of the young members of the Silver Bay family!
It was another amazing summer for our busy bayers activities. From snorkelling to wild survivors, new friends were made and the fun times were in full swing.
A centre point of our Busy Bayers activities this year was, of course, our new addition to the holiday village – the Silver Bay bees! Activities such as building our bee hotel and Bee Creative, where we designed some beautiful bee collages, kept everyone thoroughly entertained.
Our Wild Survivor attendees also earned a Silver Wild Challenge award from the RSPB for all the amazing work they’ve done to help nature. We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved.
Fitness & Spa
We’ve also been making sure that everyone keeps fit over the summer! Our outdoor bums and tums was a popular class, and we’ve also been offering private, 1-2-1 swimming lessons. It has been a real joy seeing children learn to swim in our pool alongside our excellent instructors.
Alongside promoting fitness this summer, we’ve also been pushing self-care. The Spa at Silver Bay has launched a brand-new brochure full of fantastic treatments that our lodge owners and locals have been making the most of. From shellac nails to facials, take a look here for the brochure and pick your perfect treatment! Make sure you also keep an eye out for our September offers which are as follows:
Our Superfood Pro Radiance facial is now just £45, reduced from £60!
Our Pro Radiance Flash Balm & Illuminating Eye Balm is now just £50, reduced from £71
The Deck House Entertainment
It has been an incredible summer of fun in the Deck House this year! We’ve had everything from fashion shows to live musicians, and wine tasting evenings.
Highlights include singer and guitarist Kiana, live music with Mojo, an evening of fashion, fizz and shopping with Mrs Jones, and our wine taste evening featuring our preferred wine merchant John Fearon Wines. There really has never been a dull moment this summer!
When you’ve got a picturesque beach like we have, it’d be foolish not to host a range of summer activities along the coast – which is why Silver Bay Beach is always a staple of our summer schedule.
This year saw the return of Beach Mudder, and our owners battled once more to take the crown – congratulations to our winners the uniquely named Psycho Unicorns. We also hosted our annual sandcastle competition which saw everything from bee parties to Pierce’s truck, winners included The Goddards, Becky & Grace, Erica Keasberry and Theo! And 2017 also saw our fishing competition return. Split into junior and adult categories, our winners were Ed Wilson, Rowen Dier, Holly McLean Watts and Noah Rockliffe. Kevin McLean also put on an excellent BBQ!
This summer also saw us become the proud owners of a Seaside Award from Keep Wales Tidy for our immaculate coast. You can read more about that over here.
We’re sad to say goodbye to summer, but also ready for a magnificent end to 2017! Our Halloween Party will be making a comeback, as will our Christmas and NYE celebrations. Make sure you keep an eye on our Facebook account for our brand new autumn Deck House menu, as well as our half-term planner where we’ll be bringing back loads of exciting activities to keep the run times rolling!

It’s what attracts so many to our holiday village, and why we think it’ll attract you too.
Our lodges are finished to the highest of standards, and come with beautiful views of the coast, Snowdon, and the lovely village of Rhoscolyn. They have two or three bedrooms, meaning there’s plenty of space for everyone, and they are the finest in modern, spacious holiday home living.
Our holiday properties also come with a garden, and can be fitted with bespoke decking giving you effectively an extra room outdoors, and a place where you can sip a cocktail, enjoying the sunset, night after night.
Everyone that comes to Silver Bay falls in love with our lodges and our holiday park – and we’re certain that you will too.
Silver Bay Beach
As one of the most beautiful coasts in the country, Silver Bay beach has the ability to take your breath away as soon as you lay your eyes on it.
Bask in the cool waters, or spend some time constructing the finest sand castle in all the land with your little ones. Silver Bay Beach is simply full of family memories just waiting to be created.
Best of all, our beach is exclusively open to lodge owners, and it has a brand new beach cafe to enjoy! Did someone say ice cream?!
Our beach is so beautiful that is the proud owner of a few awards. We boast a Green Flag Award, as well as a Seaside Award which is brand new for 2017. We keep a tidy, green coast for everyone to enjoy – and we now have the awards to prove it!
The Spa at Silver Bay
When you’re done exploring the beach, The Spa at Silver Bay is the place to be. Our Spa team are incredibly skilled when it comes to relaxation and treatments, and we’ve just launched our brand new Spa offering! You can take a look at it here.
Most of our treatments are done using fabulous ELEMIS products because we know they’re great for all skin types. And when you’ve had your treatment, whether it be a facial or full body massage, remember that the gym is there to be used, as is our beautiful pool and jacuzzi.
It really is relaxation at its finest.
Open Day at Silver Bay
We hope to see you this Sunday for our open day. You’ll get the chance to explore our Lookout lodge, the beach, our spa and much more.
The long anticipated Silver Bay Summer Party rolled into our Deck House with style last weekend. Effortlessly, it lived up to expectations as friends and family enjoyed a night to remember.
It was an night of eating, drinking (lots of this) and dancing. There was something to keep all ages smiling, our Busy Bayers were entertained with face painting activities and a clown magician act to keep the cries of boredom at bay.
While the children made new friends and revelled in Mr Trix’s magic show, raucous laughter continued on in bar area as our lodge owners caught up with friends old and new. The fantastic atmosphere of the night was aptly summed up by Silver Bay lodge owner Jamie Watson:
“From an owner’s perspective the buffet was fantastic, no queuing at the bar, cocktail bar was a fun addition, entertainment was really good for kids and adults – well done to everyone involved!”
Food made a big impression on our Silver Bayers as there was definitely no shortage of variety. From chicken goujons, quiche, mixed salad and new potatoes; there was an abundance to please all taste buds – compliments to Head Chef Lee and the kitchen team!
As the night rolled on, Silver Bay Summer Party favourites, Runaway Babies, made soundwaves across the venue with pop classics like ‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘Shine’ by Take That. With happy vibes echoing through the Silver Bay Deck House, questionable dancing ensued and the evening was going exactly as planned.
The main reason for the fantastic execution of the Silver Bay Summer Party solely rested on the shoulders of organisers and staff from front and back of house. These included caterers, bartenders and management. Chris Buckley, operations manager at Silver Bay, praised the hard-work of all those ensuring that the party was enjoyed by all:
“What an amazing evening. Karen (our fantastic receptionist) has literally hundreds of photos of last nights summer party but in this case a photo doesn’t say a thousand words. There are no photos of the back of house teams or the kitchen or the hours spent organising and checking that this event would be as seamless as possible.”
He also went on to give thanks to the amazing work by all the members of staff who contributed to a great evening:
“Mine and Jamie Hughes’ thanks go out to those Heads of Departments HODs and their teams for all those hours. An incredible night from an extraordinary team. Thank you for being awesome.”
So there you have it, another successful Silver Bay Summer Party done and dusted with our lodge community looking forward to the next big one. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait another year for the summer celebration, but keep your eyes peeled for our Halloween bonanza which is just around the corner. Until then, Silver Bayers!
Our stunning beach is a home to sea, sand, and a bucketload of fun – and we do everything we can to make sure it looks the part too!
From making sure our coast is green (which has won us a Green Coast Award) to improving our beachside facilities with our beautiful cafe (it’ll be open soon!), we endeavour to make every visit to Silver Bay Beach one to remember.
We were thrilled to discover last week that we’re now the proud owners of a Seaside Award. Presented to us by Keep Wales Tidy as part of the Wales coast Awards, Silver Bay Beach has been recognised for it’s tidy and well-tended to coast and waters.
Awarded for being home to quality facilities, we’re incredibly proud to everyone who works hard to make Silver Bay Beach the picturesque beach haven that it is. The Seaside Award recognises those coasts that meet the nationwide standard for the best beaches across the UK, and the flag is a symbol of superb quality, where visitors ‘are guaranteed to find a clean, safe, attractive and well-managed stretch of coast.’
Take a look at our shiny certificate below!
Lesley Jones, Chief Executive for Keep Wales Tidy stated:
“The Wales Coast Awards play a vital role in the continuing growth of coastal and marine tourism. They act as a mark of excellence, ensuring sites are managed effectively and showcasing our beautiful country to an international audience. Visitors to our award-winning beaches, marinas and boat tour operators can be sure they have arrived at a quality destination.”
Silver Bay Beach
If you’re heading to Silver Bay Beach this summer, make sure you share your magical coastal memories with us on social media. We’ll feature the best ones on our Instagram page with credit! Just make sure you use the hashtag #SilverBayBeach so we can find your beautiful pictures.
Fantastic news! There’s been a certain buzz around the Silver Bay Holiday Village recently, more specifically in the form of 20,000 bees!
Not so long ago, we announced that we were launching a scheme to #SaveTheBees, an initiative that has been created to protect our flying friends who are synonymous with the English lifestyle and surrounding area of Anglesey.
In recent years, the honey bee has been under constant threat of depopulation, a problem that has been largely credited to a lack of forage and increasing use of pesticides.
However, under the BH&BPA David Bellamy Proposals – hundreds of parks have already got involved to Save Silver Bay Bees, a driving force which has been primarily led through social media involvement and community outreach.
Chris Buckley, Operations Manager at Silver Bay, reinforced the importance of public contribution to helping save the bee’s and the environment: “The scheme was driven by the desire to protect and contribute to the declining bee population nationwide. Almost 350 David Bellamy parks have achieved Honey Bee Friendly status. This means parks have put in the forage plants that bees need to survive. Spreading the word about the bee conservation will be a big focus of the Honey Bee Friendly Parks project this year.”
Save Silver Bay Bees with 5* Hotels
Alongside the huge insurgence of honey bees on Silver Bay grounds, there has also been creations of ‘Bee Hotels’, from small-scale bee B&B’s, to what can only be described as bee condominiums. If you haven’t got on the bee-hotel bandwagon, now’s the time to start. Take a look here for inspiration and advice.
5 Honey Bee Facts
Most of you by now may now be more informed to why we need to save our small, furry friends. But here’s a few honey bee facts to take the sting out of things:
Honey has antiseptic properties and was regularly used to dress wounds and burns many years ago.
Honey is massively important to pollinators allowing for flowers, vegetables and fruit to grow.
The average worker bee lives for just five to six weeks. While she is alive, she will only create a 12th of a teaspoon of honey.
Honey bees wiggle or dance to communicate with one another – usually this is to indicate the direction of the food source.
The queen bee can live up to five years. The summer months are always the busiest for her, where she will lay 2,500 eggs.
Why not make this the year you take the Honey Bee Friendly pledge? Take a look at www.bbka.org.uk/learn/gardening_for_bees for some great tips and more information here to get you started with helping to Save Silver Bay Bees.
While you’re here, check out our Honeycomb Recipe below.
200g caster sugar
3 tbsp of honey
¼ tbsp of cream of tartar
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp of bicarbonate of soda
Large heavy based pan
Put sugar, honey, cream of tartar & butter into a large heavy based pan with 60ml water (mixture should triple in size, so ensure pan is big enough)
Simmer until sugar and butter & butter dissolves.
Heat to 122 degrees celsius on thermometer, or until a small piece forms a solid ball when dropped in cold water.
Remove from heat & beat in bicarbonate of soda
Tip out immediately onto baking sheet & leave to cool – do not touch, it’s hot!
Once cool, break up and enjoy.
Store in an airtight container.
Update on the Hives
We now have two colonies of honey bees on site called “Heather” and “Willow”, both of which are named after important foraging flowers for the bees. Each colony is progressing well. In fact, they have doubled in size since arriving a few weeks ago and now each hive contains around 16,000-18,000 bees! They enjoy bringing in nectar from flowers and processing this into honey, and one of their favourite flower spots are the heather flowers on the coastal headland at the moment.
Our “Heather” hive is slightly larger than “Willow”, although the queen is shy and hard to spot! The queen of Willow, however, is quite happy to be seen going about her business and laying eggs.
We know some of our owners have been desperate to taste some of our honey, but you’ll have to be patient. All the honey collected now will be winter food stores for the bees themselves as they build up strength for the colder months. It’ll be next year that we’ll see a surplus that we’ll be able to enjoy, too!
Don’t forget our “Visit The Bees” days are held on Tuesdays in August, and we’ll also be hosting bee-related activities at Busy Bayers on Thursday mornings. Book in the spa if you don’t want to miss out!
As the nation heaves a sigh of relief and waves goodbye to early mornings and hectic school runs, there’s a fizz of excitement in the air as the summer holidays edge ever closer! 2017 is looking to be an absolute gem of a holiday season at our Anglesey holiday village, featuring endless bouts of Silver Bay fun for everyone no matter what your age or interests.
Spend time boogying on down to our owner’s summer party, or enrol your little ones to try their hand at something new with our Busy Bayers activities, another summer of fun and sunshine is waiting just for you…

With the glorious Welsh summertime comes a plethora of exciting food festivals here in North Wales. Whether you fancy indulging your sweet tooth in local honey, or are perhaps hankering to spend a weekend camping and tasting local craft ales, we’ve got the food festival for you in this very blog!
The Beaumaris Food Festival
A classic that everyone loves on Anglesey, the Beaumaris Food Festival is back for 2017. Taking place on the 2nd and 3rd of September, there’ll be an array of exciting stalls that’ll leave you desperate to start munching!
Last year, a range of classic Anglesey businesses flocked to the event. Bucket loads of sumptuous fudge, delightful olives, tasty cheeses and fluffy scones are just a few of the key things that visitors enjoyed in 2016.
Although the 2017 stall guide is yet to be released, we can’t wait to see what comes up. If previous years are anything to judge by, it promises to be a fabulous weekend where you’ll be able to fill your boots with some of the tastiest foods on our island!
We know how important bees, and honey, are at the moment. As a species whose existence has been threatened, we’ve endeavoured to do our best to support the local honey bees here at Silver Bay. We a visit from some beekeepers over the May half-term, and they helped us to build homes for our fuzzy friends that will ensure they have a safe place to live and thrive.
It’s always good to know that these marvellous workers are being looked after, and heading down to the Conwy Honey Fair is a great place to be if you wish to sample the delights of all the tiny winged creatures have to offer.
The Conwy Honey Fair is one of the oldest food fairs located in North Wales, and, as you might have guessed from the name, the festival will be taking place in the beautiful Conwy. Of course, you can expect endless honey at the festival, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Lots of locally sourced crafts and products will also be on offer to purchase, making this festival a real delight.
Although not necessarily a food festival, the Anglesey Beer Festival is a must-do for those with a taste for great ale in the area! Again, this festival is taking place in September, and it’s spread across two delightful, beer-loving days!
You can even camp out, if you so wish, which will ensure you avoid the issue of who’s driving, and you’ll get the chance to experience lots of local craft beers that you’re sure to love. Because this event is all about raising money too, you’ll get to contribute to some incredibly worthy causes – everyone wins!
Finally, there are also local bands performing that will fill the atmosphere with excitement and life. It’s a lovely festival, perfect for adult groups, that will make you want to come back again next year. Keep an eye out for the official date announcement.
Anglesey Farmers Market
Finally, our last festival for you to enjoy is the Anglesey Farmers Market. The markets take place once every month on the third Saturday, and you can catch it on the 15th of July or the 19th of August.
Specialising in presenting the very best of the best in local Anglesey produce, the farmers market is always a delight to explore. Held in David Hughes School, Menai Bridge, there are lots of freshly baked goods, local produce, and even a range of fresh crab that’s caught along our very coast. Of course, there’s also tasty meats on offer including Guinea fowl and Welsh Black beef. In short, there’s so much on offer that you’ll struggle to decide what to buy – but don’t worry, you can always come back next month to try some more delightful food.
Stalls often give out free tasting samples too, so don’t miss out on this year-round market that’ll knock your foodie socks off!
Food on Anglesey
Of course, Anglesey is home to plenty of tasty restaurants – and one of those is our very own Deck House. So if after a long day of exploring the food festivals, you fancy kicking back and letting someone else do the cooking for a change, you know where to go! Don’t miss out on your chance to immerse yourself in the Silver Bay lifestyle and experience the five lodges below – all brand new.
The Wessex Classic
You don’t get the word ‘classic’ in your name without being a truly magnificent holiday home, and the Wessex is a lodge that you’ll enjoy holidaying in time and time again.
Featuring wall-length windows and a stunning, open plan living space, with room for all your loved ones, the Wessex classic is a classic example of what a holiday home should be.
The homely kitchen is equipped with all the high-tech essentials, and the living and dining space parades a tranquil ambiance as the natural light flows through. Relax in the bedroom of an evening, rest assured in the knowledge that your holiday home really is a picture-perfect paradise.
Surrounded by envy-inducing decking and home to modern and chic decor, the Vista holiday lodge is a delight. Step through the double french doors and into bliss, soaking up the contemporary styling and uplifting decor.
Skylights are a beautiful feature throughout this property, and they add a certain element of luxury that regular windows simply cannot afford. Spotlights also decorate the lodge ceiling, providing ample light and views of the stars when night falls.
The spacious bedrooms will keep everyone in the family happy, and the two bathrooms, one of which is ensuite, ensures that this property is certainly well above par. The Vista is simply waiting for a loving family to turn this magnificent holiday lodge into a holiday home. Could it be you?
The Reef Edge
Few holiday homes impress as much as the Reef Edge does on first sight.
Enjoy dining alfresco on the stunning decking as the sun sets, or head inside to a welcoming holiday lodge where you’ll forever feel at home.
The dark wooden floors and contrasting light walls are what first draws the eye in the property. Each add an element of character and style to the property, and act as the perfect backdrop to the elegant furniture.
Curl up on the plush, cream sofas, or spend some time playing a family board game on the gorgeous wood dining table complete with wicker chairs. Then retire to one of the luxurious bedrooms and unwind in the heart of refined holiday home living. You won’t look back!
Brand new to the site for 2017, this lodge comes with a modern, integrated kitchen and is an advocate for open plan living. Light floods through this holiday home, providing a light and airy feel. The beechwood styling in the Oyster Catcher also adds to this comfortable ambiance – and the mustard accents provide a dash of bright colour that really pops.
Cook up a storm in the rustic kitchen, or relax in the standalone bath tub fit for royalty; there’s something about this property that captures the heart.
A favourite with children, who adore the built-in bunk beds, the Oyster Catcher is the ideal place to spend your free time on the gorgeous Isle of Anglesey.
The Look Out
Our final new lodge for 2017 is the Look Out.
Arranged over a variety of floors, the Look Out is eye catching and unique, offering both excellent fixtures and fittings as well as an inspiring exterior.
This holiday home is all about modern furnishings and magnificent views, and due to the fact it’s on one of the most desirable spots here at Silver Bay, it’s a firm favourite.
It features a chic, 60s colour scheme and combines this with multi-level living. A triumph of architectural design in holiday lodges, it has to be seen to be believed. It will be love at first sight with this lodge, of that we’re sure!
